Leafy green vegetables are in high demand after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake.

Beef at Duc Xuan market ( Bac Kan City) costs between 250,000 and 280,000 VND/kg; pork costs between 180,000 and 250,000 VND/kg.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, most markets and supermarkets in the province were closed for the holiday. On the second day, at Duc Xuan Market and Bac Kan Market in the city, many vendors reopened, selling fresh flowers, vegetables, spices, and fruits. Convenience stores also resumed operations, albeit with shorter opening hours.

Fresh pho and rice noodles are selling well.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, a pork vendor at Duc Xuan Market (Bac Kan City), said: "In my business area, most items have seen a slight increase in price after Tet, but it's not significant. The price of local pork I sell ranges from 180,000 VND/kg to 250,000 VND/kg. Some items sold by vendors in the market, such as hybrid pork, are priced at 120,000 VND/kg - 130,000 VND/kg; ready-to-eat local chicken at 230,000 - 250,000 VND/kg; and hybrid chicken at 100,000 VND/kg - 130,000 VND/kg. Compared to before Tet, prices have increased slightly by about 4%-5%."

Some vegetables and fruits like cabbage are priced from 15,000-18,000 VND/kg; chrysanthemum greens, mustard greens, and spinach range from 8,000-12,000 VND/bunch; tomatoes are 20,000-30,000 VND/kg, fragrant green squash is 17,000 VND/kg; pumpkin is 15,000 VND/kg... However, the prices of food items such as beans, pho, vermicelli, and seafood have increased by about 8%.

Fresh vegetables are on display for sale after Tet at Duc Xuan market (Bac Kan City).

Ms. Ngo Thi Loan, a vendor at Duc Xuan Market (Bac Kan City), said: "I mainly sell green vegetables. During these Tet holidays, the price of green vegetables remains the same as in the rest of the year. From the third day of Tet, people buy more vegetables, but the prices remain stable."

Business activities are gradually returning to normal, consumer demand at the beginning of the year is not high, mainly focusing on a few essential items such as fresh food, seafood, fresh vegetables and fruits, food and beverage services, tourism, entertainment, parking services, passenger transport services, etc.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Kan province, before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the supply and demand situation and market prices were basically stable and under control, with no shortages or price spikes occurring.
