According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have had talks with Alvaro Carreras' representatives. The two sides are said to have almost agreed on all terms of the contract.

Real's next task is to negotiate with Benfica. The Bernabeu club is willing to pay around 50 million euros in exchange for the services of the former MU player. After the two teams complete all procedures, Carreras will sign a 5-year contract with "Los Blancos".

As for Carreras, the player born in 2003 also informed Benfica of his intention to join Real Madrid and asked the club to create conditions for him to realize his dream of going to Bernabeu.

If all goes well, Carreras will become Real's third signing this summer, after right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and centre-back Dean Huijsen. Trent joined Real as a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired, while Huijsen cost the former La Liga champions €50 million.

Carreras is about to return to Real Madrid.

Returning to Carreras, he is a left-back with all-round ability. The 22-year-old has made 47 appearances for Benfica this season, scoring four goals. These qualities fit perfectly into the full-back-focused system that Xabi Alonso plans to implement next season.

Carreras' ability to contribute to the game, his finishing skills and his speed are highly appreciated by experts, helping him become one of the phenomena of this year's Portuguese league.

Carreras played for Real Madrid's youth team for three years before joining Manchester United in 2020. However, the defender has yet to make an official appearance for the Red Devils' first team. Last summer, Carreras joined Benfica for a fee of €5 million.
