According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have held talks with Alvaro Carreras' agent. The two sides are said to have almost agreed on the terms of the contract.
Real Madrid's next task is to negotiate with Benfica. The Bernabeu club is willing to spend around 50 million euros to secure the services of the former Manchester United player. After the two clubs finalize all the procedures, Carreras will sign a five-year contract with "Los Blancos".
As for Carreras, the player born in 2003 has also informed Benfica of his intention to join Real Madrid and asked the club to facilitate his dream of moving to the Bernabeu.
If all goes well, Carreras will become Real's third signing this summer, following right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and center-back Dean Huijsen. Trent joined Real on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired, while Huijsen cost the former La Liga champions €50 million.

Carreras is about to return to Real Madrid. |
Returning to Carreras, he is a versatile left-back with excellent attacking and defensive capabilities. The 22-year-old has made 47 appearances for Benfica this season and scored 4 goals. These qualities perfectly fit the wing-back-focused system that Xabi Alonso intends to implement next season.
Carreras's ability to contribute to the game, his finishing skills, and his speed are highly regarded by experts, making him one of the standout players in this year's Portuguese league.
Carreras played for Real Madrid's youth team for three years before joining Manchester United in 2020. However, the defender has yet to make an official appearance for the Red Devils' first team. Last summer, Carreras joined Benfica for a fee of €5 million.
