Real Madrid wants to bring Roberto De Zerbi in as head coach after Carlo Ancelotti's contract expires at the end of this season.
According to Cadena Ser on September 27th, Real Madrid will do everything to convince De Zerbi to move to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2024. President Florentino Perez admires the attacking style of play and the tactical approach of the 44-year-old Italian coach at Brighton.
De Zerbi took over as manager of Brighton from Graham Potter in September 2022. He helped the team finish sixth in the Premier League and qualify for European competition for the first time.

This past summer, Brighton sold three stars: Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool, and Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez to Chelsea. However, De Zerbi's team has continued to progress steadily, with new stars developed by the manager such as Evan Ferguson, Joao Pedro, and Dahoud, alongside key players from the previous season like Mitoma, Lamptey, Veltman, and Estupinan. After the first six rounds of the 2023-2024 Premier League season, Brighton are third with 15 points, just three points behind Man City and one point behind Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail , De Zerbi currently earns $2.44 million per year. His contract with Brighton includes a release clause worth $14 million.
Before managing Brighton, De Zerbi worked for Boaria, Foggia, Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo, and Shakhtar Donetsk. The 44-year-old coach won the Coppa Italia Lega Pro with Foggia and the Ukrainian Super Cup with Shakhtar. During his playing career, De Zerbi played as an attacking midfielder for Padova, Foggia, Catania, Napoli, and Cluj.
Real Madrid's current coach, Carlo Ancelotti, will lead the Brazilian national team from the summer of 2024. Real Madrid is already actively searching for a replacement. Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid player and current coach of Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, is also a candidate.
In the 2023-2024 season, Real Madrid are currently second in La Liga with 18 points after seven rounds, one point behind league leaders Girona. Prior to this, Ancelotti led Real Madrid to one La Liga title and two Champions League titles, while AC Milan won one Serie A title and two Champions League titles. He is the only coach to have won the Champions League four times.
