- Recently, the province has been actively hosting the first ever competition for outstanding grassroots security and order protection forces in 2026. This is the first time such a competition has been organized, providing an opportunity for these forces to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and improve their knowledge and skills to apply effectively in practice.
On May 29, 2026, the People's Committee of Tan Thanh commune organized the first competition for outstanding grassroots security and order protection forces. The competition involved 9 teams representing 27 grassroots security and order protection teams in the commune. The teams competed in three parts: talent, knowledge, and situational problem-solving.

In the situational problem-solving section, the teams presented realistic scenarios, demonstrating quick thinking and flexibility in handling them. Mr. Hoang Doan, Head of the Security and Order Protection Team of Viet Thang Hang Do village, Tan Thanh commune, said: "The area has the Thuong River flowing through it and many ponds and lakes, posing potential safety risks for residents, especially young children. Therefore, our team presented a skit about rescuing a child from drowning. Other teams also presented specific, realistic scenarios. I found the competition very beneficial, an opportunity for us to exchange ideas, learn, improve our professional skills and legal knowledge, and effectively handle real-life situations, contributing to protecting the peace and happiness of the people."
Previously, at the first Dong Kinh Ward's competition for outstanding grassroots security and order protection forces in 2026 (held on May 23rd), all teams performed excellently in the competition sections. For the situational handling section, the teams created and performed skits about handling situations related to security and order arising in the local area. Mr. Tran Tho Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Kinh Ward, assessed: With serious and responsible preparation, the teams brought to the competition high-quality performances that were relevant to the local situation. This contributes to improving the effectiveness of supporting the Ward Police in protecting security and order at the grassroots level, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
The first competition for outstanding grassroots security and order protection forces in 2026 is being implemented according to Plan No. 150 dated April 22, 2026, of the Provincial People's Committee. In implementing this plan, the police in communes and wards have advised the People's Committees at the same level to form competition teams, organize training, and conduct propaganda and encouragement to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere at the grassroots level. As of June 10th, 64 out of 65 communes and wards in the province have organized the competition.
Observations from the competitions showed that all teams demonstrated thorough preparation, high responsibility, and a strong commitment to the functions and duties of the forces involved in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level. Team members not only possessed a solid understanding of the law and professional skills but also demonstrated flexible adaptability and high persuasiveness in resolving specific situations. From simple skits to situational problem-solving exercises close to everyday life, the image of the forces involved in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level was portrayed authentically, responsibly, and with dedication.
Major Nguyen Trung Cuong, Team Leader of the Team for Monitoring and Guiding the Movement for Protecting National Security, Staff Department, Provincial Police, said: This is the first time the competition has been organized on a province-wide scale. At the commune level, the competition attracted participation from communes and wards (divided into 9 competition clusters). Afterwards, these clusters will form 9 teams to participate in the provincial-level competition (expected to be held at the end of June 2026). The competition is an opportunity to comprehensively assess the quality and effectiveness of the force's activities after nearly two years of implementing the Law on Forces Participating in Protecting Security and Order at the Grassroots Level. It also creates a useful platform for members to interact, learn, exchange experiences, and replicate successful models and practices, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of operations, truly acting as an "extended arm" of the police force in residential areas.
Preparations for the provincial-level competition are currently underway. Following this, the province will select and form a team to participate in the regional competition, tentatively scheduled to be held in Thanh Hoa province in July 2026.
After nearly two years of establishment and operation, the forces participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level in the province have increasingly played a good role as an "extended arm" supporting commune-level police in ensuring security and order, preventing complex issues early and from afar right at the grassroots level. The competition will help this force hone their skills, increase their learning, and effectively apply them to practical work, contributing to protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people.
