The bustling sticky corn festival in Cam Nam

DNO - On the morning of March 21st, the "Cam Nam - Hoi An Sticky Corn Festival 2026" took place at Con Bap beach, Thanh Nam residential area, Hoi An ward. The event not only promoted the preservation and development of local sticky corn farming and products but also aimed to create new tourism products.

The Cam Nam area has long been famous for its glutinous corn cultivation. The corn from this region is renowned for its sweet, chewy, and fragrant taste. During the harvest season, glutinous corn is sold everywhere in Hoi An and is a favorite product for tourists and locals alike.

The Hoi An Sticky Corn Festival was first held in 2014. Since its inception, it has received enthusiastic participation from both locals and tourists.

This year, the festival takes place over two days (March 21-22) with many unique cultural and culinary activities such as the God of Agriculture worship ceremony; the opening of the traditional craft village festival; food stalls; cultural exchange and performance; folk dance club festival; folk games; experiential activities; demonstrations of traditional crafts and exhibitions, introductions, and promotion of local OCOP products…

At the festival, locals and tourists can enjoy dishes made from corn such as grilled corn, roasted corn, stir-fried corn, candied corn, corn sweet soup, corn soup, corn patties, corn porridge, corn wine... along with many other local specialties such as rice cakes, clams, cao lau noodles, Quang noodles, banh beo (steamed rice cakes), tofu...

In addition, visitors can immerse themselves in folk games such as blindfolded pot smashing, ring tossing, etc.; experience the corn planting process with local farmers, including preparing the furrows, thinning the corn, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting...

According to Mr. Tong Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An ward, through this festival, the locality encourages farmers to cultivate, preserve, and sustainably protect the traditional Cam Nam sticky corn farming.

At the same time, the aim is to create a new tourism product, attracting tourists to explore and experience local crafts, especially experiencing farming and cultivation methods as well as the process of preparing dishes from corn, thereby creating an attractive appeal for tourists visiting Hoi An.
