A bustling day of military enlistment.

Joining in the festive atmosphere of the nationwide conscription day, on the morning of February 26, 2024, answering the sacred call of the Fatherland, 4,096 outstanding young men from the province donned backpacks and military uniforms and set off to join the Army and Police units.

Comrade Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, encouraged young people to enlist in the army.

At the Quang Xuong District Stadium, comrades Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Dao Xuan Buong, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4, along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, attended the military enlistment ceremony, encouraging outstanding young men from Quang Xuong to embark on their sacred duty to protect and build the Fatherland.

At the military enlistment ceremony, the leaders of Quang Xuong district lit the traditional flame and beat drums to officially begin the enlistment celebration. The sound of the drums and the traditional flame served as a message from the Party Committee, the government, and the people of the province in general, and Quang Xuong district in particular, expressing their confidence in the new recruits to continue upholding the traditions of previous generations, with enthusiastic hearts, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to studying, training, and striving to excellently fulfill all assigned tasks, contributing their strength and youth to their homeland and country.

In a warm and solemn atmosphere, Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung and Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4 Dao Xuan Buong, along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, and leaders of Dak Doa district, presented flowers to encourage young men to enlist in the army; to fulfill their civic responsibilities and contribute their youthful energy to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In Thanh Hoa City, from early morning, Lam Son Square was bustling with music, flags, and vibrant flowers. A large number of people gathered to attend the military enlistment ceremony and bid farewell to outstanding young men joining the army. Fulfilling the 2024 recruitment quota, the Thanh Hoa City Military Service Council implemented the selection and recruitment of citizens into the military according to established procedures.

Lighting the traditional flame, beating the drums to inaugurate the military enlistment ceremony, and addressing the young men departing for military service, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee Tran Anh Chung expressed his hope and belief that the new recruits would strive, study, train, and mature in the military environment. He also wished them good health and success in fulfilling their duty to protect the Fatherland, living up to the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers. He affirmed that the city will continue to cooperate with military units to effectively manage and train new recruits to become outstanding soldiers and citizens; implement the military's rear-area support policy well; and build a strong local armed force.

Family members bid a tearful farewell to the new recruit.

"It's time to leave, Mom. Goodbye, dear village, goodbye, goodbye, dear riverbank, goodbye, beloved rice fields! I'm going to answer the sacred call of the Fatherland and continue writing the glorious history of my homeland!"... These were the heartfelt farewells that the outstanding young men of Nghi Son town sent to their loved ones before enlisting in the army. Amidst the spring rain, the atmosphere of the troop handover at the Nghi Son town stadium was lively and filled with emotion. Saying goodbye to her grandson, Nguyen Thi Duyen from Dinh Hai commune – the grandmother of new recruit Nguyen Trong Tan – tearfully said: “I feel sorry for his parents and me working so hard. After finishing high school, Tan left his hometown to work as a factory worker in Hanoi to help the family. Our family is small and life is difficult, but when he was selected for military service, I fully supported him. Because in the army, he will have a good environment to train and strive.”

A large number of people in Nghi Son town came to encourage their sons and daughters before they enlisted in the army.

Wearing his military uniform with enthusiasm, Mai Xuan Dat, a young man from Hai Nhan commune, excitedly shared: “Performing military service is an honor and responsibility of every citizen to the Fatherland. Therefore, after graduating from high school, I volunteered to enlist. In the military, I told myself to constantly train my character, maintain a firm and unwavering ideological stance, strictly abide by military discipline, and continuously study to improve my skills, in order to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation and be worthy of the trust and love of the local Party committee, government, and family.”

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once advised: "A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society." The message that beloved Uncle Ho conveyed to the youth not only expresses faith in the younger generation in building the future of the country, but also affirms the historical truth about the role of young generations in the development of Vietnam throughout thousands of years of struggle to build and defend the nation.

Joining in the vibrant atmosphere of the conscription day across the province, 67 young men from the border district of Muong Lat enthusiastically set off to fulfill their military service and their duty in the People's Public Security Force, protecting the Fatherland.

With the enthusiastic and volunteer spirit of youth, Lo Van Chien, a Thai ethnic minority youth from Tam Chung commune, volunteered to enlist in the army. Before boarding the bus to his unit, Chien excitedly said: “History has proven that the Vietnam People's Army is a heroic army. From its founding to the present day, it has always been a great epic, writing glorious pages of history, with victories following victories, winning independence for the nation. As a generation born and raised in peacetime, inheriting the achievements that our ancestors painstakingly built and receiving the education and training of the Party and the attention of the State, the youth of Muong Lat district today always uphold their sense of responsibility and are proud to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors to protect the Fatherland.”

With excitement and emotion, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Lat district, Nguyen Van Binh, said: “Over the years, Muong Lat district has selected hundreds of outstanding young people to study and train in military units. Many of them have become officers and professional soldiers serving long-term in the Army. At the same time, many of them, after completing their military service, have returned to their hometowns and upheld the qualities of 'Uncle Ho's soldiers,' contributing their strength and intellect to the development of Muong Lat. I believe that the young people joining the army today will continue to write more glorious and heroic chapters in the history of our homeland and country.”

From early morning, following the dense crowd leading to Nga Son District Stadium, Mai The Thang, born in 1999 in Nga Thai commune, quickly joined the ranks of Regiment 48, Division 390, 12th Army Corps, where he was to be enlisted. His heart was still heavy with mixed emotions as he prepared to say goodbye to family and friends to fulfill his duty to the Fatherland, but Thang's eyes remained resolute and full of hope.

Thang shared: “There is no better place for young people to learn discipline, demonstrate courage, and show unwavering willpower than the military environment. Therefore, my goal is to successfully complete tasks in this environment by diligently studying and actively training. At the same time, I want to contribute my small part to protecting and building a prosperous and beautiful homeland.”

Mai Thế Thắng is one of the outstanding young men in the 2024 military recruitment drive of Nga Sơn district. Thắng volunteered to enlist after graduating from the University of Architecture and working in Hanoi with a salary of 10 million VND per month. In the future, Thắng's knowledge and dreams will be forged by the resilience and unwavering dedication he gains in the military environment. And his willpower and determination today will be the foundation that helps new recruit Mai Thế Thắng overcome all difficulties and challenges to fulfill his sacred duty to the Fatherland.

The father was emotional as he bid his son farewell as he left to join the army.

By 10:30 AM, all 27 districts, towns, and cities in the province had completed the organization of the 2024 military conscription ceremony. The ceremonies in the province were held solemnly, joyfully, safely, and in accordance with regulations, becoming a nationwide celebration of military enlistment. Simultaneously, the conscription process was quick, safe, and efficient, ensuring that 100% of the quotas were met for the receiving units.

The character Pavel Korchagin in the novel "How the Steel Was Tempered" by the Soviet writer Nikolai A. Ostrovsky famously and movingly said: "Steel is tempered in red-hot fire and cold water; then it becomes hard and fearless." Through trials and hardships, the young generations of Thanh Hoa have been tempered and trained to never retreat in the face of difficulties. Therefore, being selected to join the army is also a period when the outstanding young men of the heroic Thanh Hoa homeland have a good environment to train and strive for maturity.
