From January 1 to 5, Hoi An DMC Tourism Company Limited welcomed more than 20 international tourist groups with nearly 400 people to visit Hoi An and surrounding areas, most of them coming from European countries such as Belgium, Italy, Germany, France... However, this is only a modest number compared to the real demand.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Tuan - Director of Hoi An DMC Tourism Company Limited said that the company had to refuse many groups due to the limitations of Tet such as lack of staff, high tour prices (about 50%), especially the scarce supply of services because many facilities were not open. "European tourists are returning in large numbers, especially some new markets such as Belgium, Italy, Spain, which is the basis for us to expect the development of these traditional markets" - Mr. Tuan commented.
For a long time, Hoi An has always been a favorite destination for European and North American tourists because of its unique cultural values and landscapes. This is also the basis for the Quang Nam tourism industry to identify traditional tourist streams before the Northeast Asian tourist markets "explode". It can be affirmed that the destination of Hoi An, Quang Nam is becoming increasingly attractive to international tourist markets. This is easily seen in recent years when many new tourist streams have appeared such as India, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, especially Russian-speaking tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy - Director of Duy Nhat Dong Duong Tourism Company Limited said that the two strong growth markets in Quang Nam in 2025 include the Philippines, Indonesia... This is based on the development of direct flights and charter flights from these countries to Da Nang, which are increasing. At Duy Nhat Dong Duong Company, only in the last months of 2024, the number of Filipino visitors has grown quite well, thereby contributing to market diversification, creating a positive color for the tourism picture of Quang Nam.
“If we look at the prospects of new markets to the Central region and Quang Nam, I think the flow of Russian-speaking visitors will bring surprises in 2025 because many of these countries are planning to open flights to Da Nang,” Mr. Thuy informed.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, compared to the time before the COVID-19 pandemic, although many markets have not fully recovered such as Asia (recovered 97%), Europe (92%), some other markets have had outstanding growth such as Australia (growth reached 125%); America (103%). Particularly, the Asian market has also seen markets with exceptionally high growth such as Taiwan (reaching 139%), India (297%), Cambodia (208%), Indonesia (173%), Laos (151%), Philippines (148%), Singapore (112%)...
Mr. Phan Van Tu - Director of Quang Nam Tourism Information and Promotion Center said that, besides the recovery of traditional markets in Europe - North America, it is forecasted that some markets will also grow strongly in Quang Nam in 2025 such as Australia, India, ASEAN. Of which, India is the market with "sudden" growth in 2024.
“In 2025, in addition to maintaining emerging or key markets such as Taiwan, Thailand, etc., Quang Nam will focus on promoting in the markets of Korea (May), Japan (June), the US (September), Singapore (October), and the UK (November). These are both traditional and key markets of Quang Nam, so they need to be promoted and restored; Singapore in particular is a transit point for many international visitors,” Mr. Tu shared.
