From January 1st to 5th, Hoi An DMC Tourism Company Limited welcomed over 20 international tour groups with nearly 400 people visiting Hoi An and surrounding areas, mostly from European countries such as Belgium, Italy, Germany , and France… However, this is only a modest number compared to the actual demand.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Tuan, Director of Hoi An DMC Tourism Co., Ltd., said that the company had to turn down many tour groups due to limitations during the Tet holiday such as staff shortages, high tour prices (around 50%), and especially the scarcity of services due to many establishments being closed. “European tourists are returning in large numbers, especially from some new markets like Belgium, Italy, and Spain , which gives us hope for the development of these traditional markets,” Mr. Tuan commented.
For a long time, Hoi An has been a favorite destination for European and North American tourists due to its unique cultural values and scenic beauty. This also serves as a basis for Quang Nam's tourism industry to identify its traditional customer base before the "boom" of Northeast Asian markets. It can be affirmed that Hoi An, Quang Nam is becoming increasingly attractive to international tourist markets. This is easily noticeable in recent years with the emergence of new tourist groups such as those from India, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and especially Russian-speaking tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Duy Nhat Indochina Tourism Co., Ltd., stated that two key markets for strong growth in Quang Nam in 2025 are the Philippines and Indonesia. This is based on the increasing number of direct flights and charter flights from these countries to Da Nang. At Duy Nhat Indochina Tourism Co., Ltd., in the last months of 2024 alone, the number of Filipino tourists showed significant growth, contributing to market diversification and creating a positive outlook for Quang Nam's tourism.
"If we assess the prospects for new markets in Central Vietnam and Quang Nam, I think the influx of Russian-speaking tourists will bring surprises in 2025 because many of these countries are planning to open flight routes to Da Nang," Mr. Thuy informed.
According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, compared to the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, although many markets have not fully recovered, such as Asia (97% recovery) and Europe (92%), some other markets have experienced exceptional growth, such as Australia (125% growth) and the US (103%). Within Asia, some markets have also achieved exceptionally high growth rates, including Taiwan (139%), India (297%), Cambodia (208%), Indonesia (173%), Laos (151%), the Philippines (148%), and Singapore (112%).
According to Mr. Phan Van Tu, Director of the Quang Nam Tourism Information and Promotion Center, in addition to the recovery of traditional European and North American markets, several other markets are also expected to experience strong growth in Quang Nam in 2025, such as Australia, India, and ASEAN. Among these, India is projected to see a "breakthrough" in growth in 2024.
“In 2025, in addition to maintaining emerging or key markets such as Taiwan and Thailand, Quang Nam will focus on boosting promotion and marketing in the markets of South Korea (May), Japan (June), the US (September), Singapore (October), and the UK (November). These are both traditional and key markets for Quang Nam, so they need to be strengthened and revived; Singapore, in particular, is a transit hub for many international tourist flows,” Mr. Tu shared.
