Ronaldo wins Maradona Award

UAE's Cristiano Ronaldo wins the award named after the Argentine legend, given to the player who scores the most goals each year.

The Maradona Award is one of the Globe Soccer Awards presented annually in Dubai, UAE. The Player of the Year award is also known as the Dubai Golden Ball (Dubai D'or).

According to Goal , Ronaldo will win the Maradona Award at the ceremony on January 19th. In 2023, CR7 was the top scorer with 54 goals. Of those, he contributed 42 goals for Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia) and 12 for the Portuguese national team. Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane ranked second with 52 goals each. Erling Haaland came in fourth with 50 goals.

The Globe Soccer Awards began awarding the Maradona Prize, honoring the legend who won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina, in 2021. The first winner was striker Robert Lewandowski. However, in 2022, the award was absent from the list of 20 awards presented. Ronaldo was the second winner.
