Each flower pot and ornamental plant is imbued with the sweat, intellect, and love of the land of the diligent farmers who are continuing to write the unique identity of the Land of Pink Lotus.
A CENTURY OF "A STRIP OF FLOWER-COLORED SILK"
Visiting Sa Dec in the last days of the year, one is easily overwhelmed by a space overflowing with color. Endless fields of flowers are vying to show off their beauty, interspersed with the green of the leaves are the figures of diligent farmers meticulously tending to each potted flower and ornamental plant.

The history of Sa Dec Flower Village is a long and proud journey, spanning over a century. From the first steps of our ancestors bringing flower seeds to sow on this fertile alluvial land, through the ups and downs of time, flower cultivation is no longer just a purely labor-intensive profession. It has blossomed into an art, a precious spiritual heritage.
“Sa Dec is no longer a humble flower village along the river, but has transformed into the largest flower and ornamental plant production center in the Mekong Delta region, with over 2,000 varieties of flowers, supplying over 15 million products annually, distributing throughout the country, and gradually expanding into the international market, bringing high economic value.” Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap Province , PHAM THANH NGAI |
Through skillful hands and persistent hard work, the people of Sa Dec have transformed small, fragmented flower plots into a large-scale, concentrated production area of nearly 1,000 hectares.
Currently, Sa Dec ward has approximately 4,000 production households with a diverse range of products, totaling over 2,000 items. The figure of 15 million products supplied to the market each year, with a total production value estimated at around 3,300 billion VND, is proof of the vibrant vitality of this craft village.

Walking amidst fields of vibrant yellow chrysanthemums or fragrant marigolds, we clearly felt the "pulse" of spring. Sa Dec today is not just a place that supplies flowers, but a place where people come to see the interplay between nature and the skillful hands of humankind.
Beyond its economic value, the flower and ornamental plant cultivation industry in Sa Dec has become a strong community bond. It is a place where experienced artisans pass on their passion to the younger generation, and where advancements in global science and technology are localized with the soul of the gardeners.

Each flower branch from Sa Dec not only carries its fragrance and beauty, but also the pride of a century-old craft village that is changing every day.
METICULOUS HANDS
No longer content with simply selling potted flowers, the new generation of farmers in Sa Dec are proactively changing their mindset, transforming their flower gardens into experiential spaces and ecotourism destinations.

Mr. Doan Huu Nhieu, owner of Mien Tay Lodge tourist destination, is a prime example of the spirit of daring to think and act. On an area of 1.8 hectares that was previously purely used for planting ornamental trees, he boldly replanned it into a resort space combined with colorful flowerbeds.
Instead of following conventional production methods, Mr. Nhieu focuses on dwarf flower varieties that are compact in size (about 25 cm) but have vibrant colors, suitable for use as ground cover flowers.
Mr. Nhieu shared: “I partnered with leading seed companies from the Netherlands to obtain high-quality seeds and advanced cultivation techniques. I want to prove that high-end imported flower varieties can still adapt and flourish in this Sa Dec region.”

With over 100 experimental flower varieties, including 20 main types such as: chrysanthemums, periwinkle, petunias, etc., Mr. Nhieu has not only enriched his family but also created a vibrant living space for tourists and other farmers to visit and learn from.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Tuan, owner of Tuan Duy ornamental plant nursery, is also keen on understanding customer preferences. He promotes new varieties of yellow lotus such as purple, orange, white, and soon red yellow lotus.
This type of flower is extremely popular with customers because of its versatility: it's beautiful and unique for Tet (Vietnamese New Year) decorations, easy to grow as an ornamental plant, and the flowers last a long time.
According to Mr. Tuan, support from policies promoting research on new flower varieties has empowered farmers. Access to quality seeds helps plants grow healthier, with fewer pests and diseases, thereby increasing economic value and competitiveness with other flower-growing regions in the area.

Besides traditional flower varieties such as Tiger Chrysanthemum, Gerbera Chrysanthemum, Marigold, Sunflower, Cockscomb, and Firecracker Chrysanthemum, this Tet holiday, Sa Dec flower village is showcasing the Song Hy Chrysanthemum variety. Cultivated by the Tan An Flower Production and Supply Cooperative, the Song Hy Chrysanthemum is becoming a focal point of attention.
The unique feature of this flower lies in its magical ability to "transform" colors: purple and white petals, yellow pistil, and especially a gradual shift from purple to light pink as it blooms. This visual effect not only offers novelty but also symbolizes good fortune and happiness, true to its name "Double Happiness".

It is evident that the continuous updating of unique and exotic flower varieties demonstrates the modern business mindset of Sa Dec farmers. They no longer wait for customers to come and buy, but proactively create demand and generate trends to lead the market.
From the meticulous hands of the diligent farmers of Sa Dec, they contribute to bringing a spring season overflowing with colorful flowers to every home.
