- For the people of Vu Le, the blooming of peach blossoms not only signals the arrival of a new spring, but each blooming season also becomes a season of prosperity and happiness for the people in the largest peach-growing region in the province.
Every year, as the year draws to a close, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, in Hong Phong 1 village, Chien Thang commune, is busy tending to their peach and apricot blossom gardens. Mr. Quynh shared: "Previously, most of my family's cultivated land was used for growing corn and fruit trees. However, the economic efficiency from these crops was not high, and they were frequently affected by the weather, resulting in unstable income."
Recognizing this, in 2010, after researching both within and outside the province, my family planted the first peach and apricot trees as a trial. Through planting, accumulating experience, and expanding the area and market, my family now cultivates 3 hectares of peach and apricot trees, totaling approximately 5,000 trees. After deducting expenses, the annual income from these trees exceeds 300 million VND, a significantly higher economic value compared to previous crops.

Like Mr. Quynh's family, the transition to growing ornamental peach trees has brought higher and more stable economic benefits to many other households in Vu Le commune. Mr. Hoang Van Binh, from Quang Thai village, Vu Le commune, shared: "After researching in Nhat Tan peach village, Hanoi , in 2001, I brought Nhat Tan peach varieties back and grafted them onto the existing natural peach trees in the commune. Each year, I've developed a little more, and now my family has 1,200 ornamental peach trees. In addition, I've established a cooperative to support other households in developing this model. To date, the cooperative has about 4,000 ornamental peach trees, selling 3,000 to 3,500 trees to the market each year."
Along with the two exemplary peach-growing households mentioned above, recognizing the economic benefits of peach and apricot blossom trees, in recent years, the people of Vu Le commune have proactively sought out, learned, and invested capital to develop the peach-growing model. From just a few households initially growing a small number of peach trees, the entire Vu Le commune now has 120 hectares of peach trees and 35 hectares of apricot blossom trees, making it the commune with the largest area of peach and apricot blossom tree cultivation in the entire province.
Mr. Duong Cong Chung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vu Le Commune, said: Vu Le Commune was established on the basis of merging the communes of Vu Son, Chien Thang, and Vu Le. In recent years, ornamental peach trees and apricot blossoms have become the main crops in the economic development of the people in the commune. To enhance the value of ornamental apricot and peach blossoms, in addition to the proactive efforts of the people, relevant levels and sectors have provided some resources to support peach growers to invest in expanding the area, applying science and technology to production, building brands, and promoting the commune's peach blossom products... This has helped the commune's peach blossom products reach a wider market.
Mr. Quách Đình Cường, from Tây Tựu ward, Hanoi, shared: "Every Tet holiday, my family usually goes to Nhật Tân peach blossom village in Hanoi to order peach blossoms. However, after accidentally discovering ornamental peach blossoms grown in Vũ Lễ commune, Lạng Sơn province, being sold at a flower market in Hanoi, I was very impressed. The peach trees grown in Vũ Lễ commune have thick trunks, dense flowers, and vibrant petals. They possess a wild, natural beauty of the mountains and forests, combined with meticulous attention to detail in every step of shaping them… Since then, in recent years, my family has chosen this type of peach blossom from Lạng Sơn every year."

Perhaps not only Mr. Cuong but many other families have chosen Vu Le ornamental peach blossoms to decorate their homes for Tet (Lunar New Year). Evidence of this is the continuously increasing area of peach and apricot blossom cultivation in the commune each year. Peach trees have become a key crop, contributing significantly to raising people's income. This creates an important foundation for the commune to soon achieve its goal of becoming a model new rural commune in the 2026-2030 period.
Every year, as Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, traveling along the roads of Vu Le commune, it's easy to spot vast peach orchards and trucks busily transporting peach blossoms to markets both within and outside the province. These vibrant peach and apricot blossom gardens herald the arrival of a new spring. And for the people of Vu Le, the blooming peach and apricot blossoms also signify a season of prosperity, happiness, and abundance.
