Born in the mountainous commune of Y Tý, Phà Ta Gơ, a Hà Nhì ethnic minority student majoring in English at the Faculty of Information Technology and Foreign Languages, Lào Cai College, has been striving to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. Her love of books has helped Gơ develop a daily reading habit, which has effectively contributed to her studies.

Pha Ta Go shared: “I’ve loved reading since I was little, so when I was in high school, I often went to the school library to find books for my studies. Now, as a university student, I still maintain this habit.”

According to Gơ, she really enjoys learning about the cultures of the ethnic groups in Lao Cai, so she often goes to the Provincial Library to read, then films videos to upload to her social media to share her knowledge and love for the culture and homeland of Lao Cai with everyone. For Gơ, books are "friends" that have paved the way and accompanied her on her learning journey.

Like Pha Ta Go, Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hai, residing in residential area 9, Bac Leinh ward, Cam Duong commune, also shares a love of books and has been a regular reader of the Provincial Library (branch 2) for nearly 20 years. Ms. Hai and her daughter have received commendations from the Provincial Library. In 2021, Ms. Hai was also awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for her positive contributions to the development of reading culture in Lao Cai province.

Speaking about her love for books, Ms. Minh Hai said: "When reading, if I find a passage I really like, I reread it many times to ponder over it. I always keep a book in my handbag so that whenever I have free time or in a suitable place, I can take it out and read."
According to Ms. Minh Hai, to retain knowledge from books for a long time, after reading, people should share what they have learned. They discuss, analyze, and remind each other of what they have read. This way, the knowledge is not only remembered more deeply but also contributes to spreading knowledge in the community. That's why Ms. Minh Hai often exchanges books with friends or collects and donates books to her children's school libraries. For her, the gift of knowledge is always incredibly precious.

Ms. Pha Ta Go and Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hai are two of the thousands of regular readers of the Provincial Library each year. The Provincial Library currently has two branches, each with approximately 180,000 books. At branch 2, the Provincial Library receives an average of 150 readers per day, with over 800 book borrowing and returning transactions. Approximately 30% of the readers are officials, civil servants, retirees, and self-employed individuals, while the remainder are students. Every year, the Provincial Library organizes many activities to attract and encourage readers, such as reader conferences, mobile library services, and weekend reading experiences and interactions.
Each year, the organization collaborates with local authorities and schools to organize many meaningful activities to bring books closer to readers, especially teenagers and children. Both e-books and physical books have their own advantages, and we appreciate readers who have a habit of reading regularly. This contributes to the development of reading culture in the community, enhances people's knowledge, and moves towards a civilized society.
When each person reads another book, gives away a book, or simply spends time visiting the library, they are contributing to spreading a reading culture, building a learning community, and a civilized society. This is also how books continue to play a leading and pioneering role in knowledge acquisition and the development of a reading culture in the community.
