A Lưới is a district in Thừa Thiên Huế province, bordering Laos to the west. The district is connected to Huế city by National Highway 49, approximately 70km away.
This is a region inhabited by many ethnic minority groups such as the Ta Oi, Co Tu, and Van Kieu, among others.
A Lưới is a mountainous district located in the western part of the Northern Truong Son mountain range, with an average altitude of 600–800 meters above sea level and an average slope of 20–25 degrees.
The A Lưới district has a characteristic tropical monsoon climate, a blend of northern and southern climates. The climate here is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.
The weather is not too hot during the day, and it gets a little cool at night, making it ideal for tourists looking for a change of scenery.
People often say, "A Lưới is the second Da Lat, the Northwest of Hue,"... but if you go there, you'll see: This is A Lưới, a place with its own unique beauty and distinctive colors. To get to A Lưới, you'll travel along winding mountain passes that challenge the driving skills of travelers, such as the legendary A Co Pass – with sheer cliffs on one side and a deep abyss on the other. The road is treacherous, but in return, the scenery along the pass is wild, majestic, and breathtaking.
Along the way, don't forget to stop at the Crow's Beak Bridge to admire the clear, peaceful stream, or occasionally slow down to gaze at the verdant mountains, the dense rows of trees reaching straight up to the blue sky, and the small stream like a thread in the heart of the valley… If you go in the early morning or late afternoon, you will witness the magical and enchanting scene of "mountains embracing clouds, clouds embracing mountains," like a heavenly realm.Heritage Magazine
