For a long time, newspapers and mass media have regularly published information about famous tourist destinations around the world with unique tourism products linked to the history and culture of those regions. And in reality, it's essential to have distinctive products to effectively promote and attract tourists.

For many years, tourists visiting Con Co Island often expressed regret and disappointment because, with its existing potential and advantages, Con Co could have made a breakthrough to develop its tourism industry. One of the many factors preventing the island's tourism and service sector from being distinctive and attracting repeat visitors is the lack of unique tourism products. However, compared to nearly 10 years ago, Con Co has undergone many changes.
In early August, I had the opportunity to visit Con Co Island to attend the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the district's establishment and the 65th anniversary of the Con Co Island armed forces' traditional day. There, the District Women's Association had a booth displaying some agricultural, seafood, and herbal products from the island. Among them, I and many other visitors were particularly interested in the "Con Co Giao Co Lam" tea bags produced by the Con Co Island Giao Co Lam Cooperative. This product was packaged in a neat square cardboard box with a brand label and an anti-counterfeiting sticker.
The display looked very professional and modern. Additionally, there were larger plastic bags available for tourists to choose from. Besides Gynostemma pentaphyllum, the Women's Association of the island district also displayed pure fish sauce, dried anchovies, dried shrimp paste, and several other herbs. All were neatly and cleanly packaged, suitable for tourists to buy as souvenirs or for home use. Many tourists that day purchased these products as gifts.
Previously, tourists visiting Con Co Island didn't know what to buy as souvenirs, but now they have many more options. Although the products aren't as diverse or visually appealing as those from professionally organized tourist destinations, the efforts of the Party committee, government, and people of the island district are commendable. This not only helps promote the brand of Con Co Island but also contributes to a more prosperous and comfortable life for the island's inhabitants.
Looking at the broader picture, Quang Tri province has many ecotourism, experiential tourism, and spiritual tourism destinations. Recently, many localities in the province have focused on promoting the development of unique local products and strengths, aiming to achieve OCOP certification.
Some typical products include: Khe Sanh coffee, Cua pepper, herbal extracts of Solanum torvum and An Xoa, Hai Lang organic rice... These products have been registered with trademarks and brands, and are neatly and cleanly packaged in vacuum-sealed plastic bags or convenient paper boxes, ensuring aesthetics and food safety.
These products have been displayed at several tourist destinations in the province. Visitors have expressed great interest and purchased them for personal use or as gifts. Among them, Khe Sanh coffee is one of the products that has attracted much attention from tourists. Bags of perfectly roasted and ground coffee, emitting an indescribable aroma, are carefully packaged in eye-catching paper bags with distinctive branding, making them irresistible to coffee connoisseurs...
Tourism products often share a common characteristic: they are linked to the history, culture, and culture of a particular region. Therefore, those involved in the tourism industry need to connect the product with the story of its origin, the process of making it, and the culture of the region that produced it. The goal is that whenever tourists hold any product in their hands, they immediately remember and associate it with the place they have visited.
Quang Tri province has many potentials and strengths for tourism development. However, for the tourism industry to truly develop to its full potential, localities need to research and develop unique tourism products to effectively attract and retain tourists.
