Volunteers participate in a parade to promote voluntary blood donation during the Red Journey 2025.
A highlight of the 2025 Red Journey in Lang Son is the expansion of the program's scale. Specifically, the program will take place over two days (June 19th and 20th, at the Lang Son City Party Committee - People's Committee Hall) instead of just one day as in 2024. This also marks the 12th consecutive year that Lang Son has organized the Red Journey program. The program's activities will include: a mobile parade to promote voluntary blood donation; cultural exchanges and campaigns to encourage voluntary blood donation; a blood donation festival called "Drops of Red in Lang Son"; and visits and gift-giving to several families receiving preferential treatment in Lang Son city.
Ms. Nong Bich Thuan, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society and Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation Campaign, stated: Immediately after receiving the directive from the Central Red Cross Society regarding the Red Journey campaign, along with proactively advising on the development of plans and program content for the Provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation Campaign, the society also promptly allocated targets to units, departments, and agencies in the province. At the same time, the society strengthened close coordination with departments, agencies, and the press to promote the Red Journey 2025. To date, the Provincial Red Cross Society has completed its plan and is implementing activities to promote and encourage people to participate in blood donation, preparing all necessary conditions to ensure readiness for the major event.
Notably, this year's organization also features many innovations towards a more professional and scientific approach. Accordingly, starting from the end of May 2025, the Provincial Red Cross Society has intensified the use of social media to widely disseminate information about the Red Journey and encourage people, especially young students, to register as volunteers to participate in the campaign. In particular, since the beginning of June 2025, 60 volunteers have participated in training on basic knowledge and skills for the 2025 Red Journey. To date, the preparation of materials, promotional messages, and the provision of necessary knowledge and skills for the entire journey have been completed. Throughout Lang Son city, the streets are adorned with red banners, posters, and slogans promoting the 2025 Red Journey... Simultaneously, on June 15th, Red Journey volunteers marched, disseminated information, and distributed over 1,000 leaflets encouraging people to participate in blood donation in streets, densely populated areas, parks, and markets throughout the city.
Luong Manh Dung, a volunteer for the Red Journey 2025 program at the College of Health Sciences , said: "For more than half a month now, I and my fellow volunteers have fully participated in the training sessions on the Red Journey organized by the Provincial Red Cross Society. Besides promoting and encouraging people to donate blood in residential areas, we are also actively spreading awareness about the Red Journey on social media (Zalo, Facebook) to reach a wider audience."
In addition, the organizers have also developed detailed schedules for each agency and unit to avoid situations where blood donors have to wait too long or experience congestion at the stages before blood collection. Furthermore, they have increased the number of medical staff to support health checks, tests, screening, and blood collection to ensure a safe, quick, and time-saving blood donation process for the public.
Besides the proactive efforts of the volunteer team and organizing committee members, the units, departments, and sectors assigned targets also intensified propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage officials, employees, and workers to actively register for blood donation and support the program.
Mr. Bui Dinh Khoa, Director of Viettel Lang Son – a branch of the Military Telecommunications and Industry Group, said: "In response to the Red Journey program, the leadership team in our unit has taken the lead in registering to donate blood and encouraging staff and workers to participate, so the annual blood donation results always meet and exceed the assigned targets. In 2024, 35 out of 32 people in the unit participated in voluntary blood donation (achieving 109% of the target), and in 2025, 54 out of 33 people registered to donate blood (achieving 163% of the set target)."
With thorough preparation from the organizing committee and the proactive efforts of various units, departments, and sectors, we believe that the Red Journey 2025 will be a great success, exceeding the target number of blood units collected and creating an increasingly widespread impact of the blood donation movement in the community.
The 13th Red Journey, organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in coordination with the Office of the National Steering Committee for Blood Donation and the Blood Transfusion Centers and Red Cross Societies of 48 provinces and cities, officially opened on May 30, 2025. The program will last for two months (May 30 – July 30) in 48 provinces/cities and is expected to collect 100,000 units of blood. In Lang Son, this year's Red Journey, themed "Drops of Red in Lang Son," is scheduled to take place over two days, May 19-20, 2025. The province has been assigned the target of mobilizing over 2,000 people to register for blood donation and receiving at least 1,600 units of blood from donors; and mobilizing at least 200 volunteers throughout the province to participate in the program's activities. To date, over 2,000 people have registered to donate blood, achieving 100% of the target, and more than 300 volunteers have participated in the program's activities. |
