For the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop season, the Agricultural Extension Center will implement rice production models covering a total area of 562 hectares, located in cooperatives throughout the city. Among these, the Phu Gia Agricultural Cooperative will implement the model "Applying advanced techniques: three reductions and three increases; water management; and straw management to produce rice with low emissions." This is a cultivation process applying advanced techniques, such as alternating dry and wet irrigation, reducing seeds/fertilizers, aiming to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, while simultaneously reducing costs, increasing profits, and improving rice quality, on a scale of 20 hectares.
Within the framework of the conference, delegates and farmers directly visited the fields and discussed the advantages and difficulties in the implementation process. The model implemented in the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop at Phu Gia Agricultural Cooperative has initially yielded positive results. Field inspections showed that the rice in the model grew healthily, had fewer pests and diseases, and promised higher yields compared to the old farming methods.
The synchronized application of technical solutions has helped farmers significantly save on costs for seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, while simultaneously improving rice quality. Combined with rational water management and post-harvest straw disposal, this has contributed to reduced production costs, increased economic efficiency, improved soil quality, and reduced environmental pollution. This has brought direct economic benefits to the people and affirmed the role of agriculture in adapting to climate change. The success of this model will be replicated throughout the commune in the near future.
