For Le Ngoc Ky Duyen (23 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City), the happiness of young people lies in learning, daring to dream, and daring to act.
Ky Duyen graduated with honors from Fulbright University Vietnam with a degree in Psychology and Social Sciences . She leads the EM-IN project, which aims to enhance socio-emotional skills in children.
"Learn through play - learn while playing"
The EM-IN project specializes in creating educational toys and organizing classes. The "learn through play - learn while playing" approach facilitates children's easy acquisition of practical skills. According to Ky Duyen, EM-IN aims to help children cultivate mental health and emotional intelligence (EQ), which is the foundation for their healthy development and becoming useful citizens of society.

EM-IN's predecessor was a student project that organized EQ classes for orphanages. Realizing that classes alone weren't enough to have a lasting impact on children, Duyen and her friends researched and created engaging and relatable toys. With a team of seven members, the young people divide tasks efficiently, ensuring smooth operation. Currently, EM-IN is focusing on products for elementary school students, concentrating on helping children name and manage their emotions. Previously, EM-IN launched a game called "Know Yourself, Know Others" for children aged 8 and up to enhance their emotional vocabulary and learn to use them daily. The game is suitable for groups of 2-6 people, perfect for children to play together or with parents and other adults at home.
These young people are full of energy and eager to create value that benefits the community.
Duyen stated, "The concept of socio-emotional competence isn't very widespread yet, so EM-IN needs to put in a lot of effort to influence the awareness of the majority." According to her, modern life is full of pressures, exacerbating emotional problems. Improving socio-emotional competence helps individuals interact with themselves and others, and engage in social activities more effectively. Through beautifully designed games with lively gameplay, children will grasp the core key to unlocking their inner selves and learn how to observe and empathize with the world around them. This will improve self-awareness, emotional control, social understanding, active listening, relationship-building skills, and responsible decision-making.
A desire to contribute
Even while still in university, Ky Duyen had an impressive track record. In addition to scientific papers published in international journals, Duyen was also the President of the Psychology Club and a Mental Health Ambassador at her school.
Her rigorous studies and relentless pursuit of self-improvement have given her the confidence to chase her dreams. Duyen is currently working on Google for Education's Digital Transformation in Education project in Vietnam and the Southeast Asia-Pacific region. Despite her busy schedule, she still dedicates time and effort to EM-IN and contributes to other social projects. These are all non-profit activities focused on creating a positive impact on the community.
Duyen believes that age is never a barrier for those with strong will. When you have a good idea, a clear plan and true passion, whether young or old, you can still get started. "However, it is necessary to balance intuition, reason and ability to make decisions. At any age, studiousness and modesty play a big role in helping me improve myself and, together with the team, fulfill the set mission" - Duyen affirmed.
Duyen's main concern is how to make EM-IN have a bigger and wider impact. Recently, the team received a 50 million VND grant from an international educational organization. The team continues to apply to competitions and startup funding events to seek resources to support their operations and production. With the support of talented, enthusiastic, and trustworthy Gen Z colleagues, Duyen is confident in facing any challenge. "The important thing is that we are always ready to learn and move forward," she emphasized.
