Sharing the precious blood

Comrade Chau Thi Thu, Vice President of the Provincial Labor Union, said: “Every year, the Provincial Labor Union closely coordinates with the Provincial Red Cross Society to organize propaganda and mobilization of cadres, union members, and workers through various forms such as: posting information about voluntary blood donation activities, calling for and mobilizing on the Website, Facebook, and Zalo of the Tuyen Quang Labor Union... aiming to raise awareness of the profound meaning of participating in blood donation to save lives, ensuring the health of blood donors, creating a widespread blood donation movement, receiving enthusiastic participation from a large number of cadres, union members, and workers, showing that voluntary blood donation has become a voluntary movement of union members and workers.”

Officials and union members of the Tuyen Quang Newspaper branch participated in blood donation at the event.

With the message "Every drop of blood donated saves a life," more and more businesses, individuals, union members, and workers in the province are participating in the voluntary blood donation movement. Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Chairman of the Trade Union of MSA - YB Co., Ltd., said: “The company currently has over 2,200 union members and workers. Every year, the trade union consistently organizes 1-2 voluntary blood donation drives for its members and workers. The company also facilitates participation; when donating blood, workers still receive their full salary and additional support from the company and the trade union. Therefore, the company has attracted many workers who have donated blood 3-5 times.”

Ms. Nguyen Khanh Thuong, a worker at MSA - YB Co., Ltd., shared: “I was informed about the voluntary blood donation movement by the Company's Trade Union Executive Committee. I realized that donating blood not only helps patients but also multiplies good and meaningful things in life. Therefore, I have participated in blood donation three times at the blood donation event organized by the Provincial Labor Federation.”

As is customary, every May, trade union members at all levels in Tuyen Quang province participate in the voluntary blood donation day. Ms. Tran Lien Huong, Vice President of the Trade Union of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Cooperative Union, who has donated blood 28 times, shared: “I started donating blood voluntarily when I was a student at the National Economics University in Hanoi. I only thought that my blood would help patients with serious illnesses, especially children with thalassemia who need blood transfusions every day. Understanding the benefits of donating blood to save lives, I not only enthusiastically participated but also encouraged 20 people, including my siblings and friends, to register for voluntary blood donation.”

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: “The Provincial Red Cross Society also acknowledges and highly appreciates the efforts of all levels of trade unions in coordinating with relevant units to effectively carry out the work of mobilizing blood donation to save lives, promoting the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, and compassion in the community, especially highlighting and honoring the noble act of voluntary blood donation.”

Thanks to the widespread voluntary blood donation movement since 2018, trade unions at all levels throughout the province have mobilized over 10,000 cadres, union members, and workers to participate in voluntary blood donation, receiving over 5,200 units of blood. Specifically, during the voluntary blood donation event in May 2025, over 700 cadres, union members, and workers in the province participated, and nearly 600 units of blood were collected.

Blood donation is a noble act that affirms the responsibility of every union member, worker, and employee in the province. It carries significant humanitarian meaning, contributing to ensuring a sufficient blood supply for emergency care and treatment of patients at medical facilities throughout the province.
