From the start of the match, Inter Milan dominated possession, but Monterrey were not outplayed. In the 25th minute, veteran central defender Sergio Ramos rose high to head home a powerful header from Oliver Torres' corner kick, giving Monterrey the lead.

After conceding a goal, the reigning UEFA Champions League runners-up pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 42nd minute when Carlos Augusto assisted Lautaro Martinez, who finished into an empty net to level the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Inter continued to press with many dangerous situations, but Monterrey's defense remained resilient.

In the 61st minute, Sergio Canales nearly extended the lead with a long-range shot that hit the post. Lautaro then put the ball into the net for the second time, but it was ruled offside.
Inter had further opportunities in the 77th and 80th minutes, but Lautaro and Zalewski both failed to capitalize.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result Monterrey can be proud of, while Inter must improve if they want to go far in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
