From the start of the match, Inter Milan started the game with control but Monterrey was not at all inferior. In the 25th minute, veteran center back Sergio Ramos jumped high to head the ball dangerously from Oliver Torres' corner kick, putting Monterrey ahead.

After conceding the goal, the reigning UEFA Champions League runners-up pushed up their squad to find an equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded in the 42nd minute when Carlos Augusto assisted Lautaro Martinez to score into an empty net, tying the score at 1-1.
Entering the second half, Inter continued to press with many dangerous situations, but Monterrey's defense remained resilient.

In the 61st minute, Sergio Canales almost increased the score with a long-range shot that hit the post. Lautaro then put the ball in the net a second time but was caught offside.
Opportunities continued to come to Inter in the 77th and 80th minutes, but Lautaro and Zalewski respectively could not take advantage.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that Monterrey can be proud of, while Inter must improve if they want to go far at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
