TPO - On the morning of June 21st, many parents and students in Hanoi gathered at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám to pray for good fortune and success before the upcoming high school graduation exam.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26th and 27th. This year, the number of registered candidates in Hanoi has increased by nearly 16,000 compared to 2024, placing significant pressure on the preparation and organization of the exam.

A large number of parents and students from Hanoi and neighboring provinces flocked to the Temple of Literature from early morning to visit and pay their respects.

The ticket counter was sometimes packed with people queuing.

Some families prepare very carefully with sticky rice and boiled chicken to offer as gifts at the Temple of Literature. Many families also bring offerings, incense, flowers, pens, rulers, and exam papers to pray for good luck for their children.

Expressing their wishes before the doctoral steles, paying respects before the statue of the illustrious teacher Chu Văn An... these are some of the good luck-seeking activities that many students in Hanoi often perform at Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám before important exams.

Although everyone makes different choices after graduating from high school, entering university remains a momentous event and a major dream for 18-year-old students.

In 2025, Hanoi will continue to have the highest number of candidates registering to participate in the high school graduation exam among all localities.

The entire city has 124,072 registered candidates for this exam, accounting for more than one-tenth of the total number of candidates nationwide.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, who works in the Armored Corps, also took advantage of the weekend to take her daughter to visit the Temple of Literature, hoping that her daughter would have the best spirits and more confidence after visiting Vietnam's first university.

Some young people "wrote in their imagination" their wishes on the walls of the Temple of Literature before the exam .

For students, this is an extremely important exam, marking the culmination of 12 years of study. For some students, visiting the Temple of Literature - National University is like a source of spiritual support, helping them feel more relaxed.

Most students born in 2007 prepare their offerings at the stalls in front of the Temple of Literature or in the Thai Hoc courtyard, including mung bean cakes, ballpoint pens, incense, candles, and yellow prayer scrolls in red envelopes. The price for a basic offering is around 100,000 VND. They write their wishes for good luck and success on the prayer scrolls before offering them. Inside the main hall, parents and students respectfully offer their prayers.

A class of students from an international school is being introduced to the Temple of Literature by their tour guide.

The Temple of Literature and National University complex is considered the first university in Vietnam. It is dedicated to three kings: Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong, and Le Thanh Tong. These kings made significant contributions to the feudal state of Vietnam by recognizing that education was the foundation of nation-building.
