According to Bloomberg , Apple is testing a feature that would allow Siri to handle multiple requests with a single query. This is seen as a new direction to improve the nearly 15-year-old digital assistant.
"This feature will allow users to combine requests, such as checking the weather, creating appointments, and sending emails, into a single command. Currently, Siri can only perform tasks on a case-by-case basis, which is quite outdated compared to the AI market," said analyst Mark Gurman.
Apple plans to finalize and update new features in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 by the end of this year. The company also aims to expand Siri's capabilities, enabling it to understand context by extracting personal information and content displayed on the screen.
After a long wait, the Siri upgrade is likely to debut at the WWDC 2026 developer conference on June 8th. Apple first announced new Siri features two years ago, but had to postpone them several times due to technical issues.
As part of these changes, the new version of Siri is expected to function more like a chatbot. Apple also plans to launch a standalone Siri app that can access and summarize information from websites based on an internal project called World Knowledge Answers.
Apple's latest project could simplify interacting with Siri, encouraging users to leverage the assistant to save time. Currently, Siri supports listening for follow-up requests without repeating "Siri" or "Hey Siri," but each action needs to be handled separately.
In fact, understanding and processing multiple requests within a single query has become standard with modern AI assistants, such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Even Google's older voice assistant has supported this capability for many years.
"This feature is also crucial for the more advanced versions of Siri, including contextual understanding and deeper integration into apps. It allows the assistant to perform a series of tasks such as extracting, editing, and sending photos to you with just one command," Gurman emphasized.
Apple is reportedly working on a new keyboard system that expands on auto-correction by providing alternative words, using a method similar to tools like Grammarly.
It's unclear whether the company will roll out this upgrade in the official iOS 27 release. A few days ago, the company released iOS 26.4, which improved the auto-correction algorithm on the keyboard.
Apple is also developing a feature called Siri Extensions, which allows the assistant to access third-party AI models, installed through the App Store. If the rumors are accurate, users will have more external model options to use with Siri instead of just ChatGPT as is currently the case.
Apple Intelligence was first launched in 2024 and is still labeled as beta. Siri itself was also initially released as a beta, a phase that ended in 2013.
