According to information from the Lam Dong Department of Health , from January 1st to 4 PM on April 9th, the province recorded 995 cases of measles. The localities with the highest number of cases were Da Lat City, accounting for 30% of the total cases in the province (297/995 cases), and Duc Trong district, accounting for 25% of the total cases in the province (248/995 cases); of which 62 cases tested positive for measles. During the same period, there were 2 cases in 2024.
In response to this situation, the Lam Dong Department of Health advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Plan for the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases in 2025. Simultaneously, it organized training for healthcare workers throughout the sector on the monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment of measles; and strengthened epidemiological surveillance in high-risk areas.
The Lam Dong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, along with local health units, are actively conducting epidemiological investigations, tracing close contacts of patients, and monitoring the disease situation in districts and cities.
Healthcare facilities have fully prepared supplies, medicines, and equipment for measles treatment, while also strengthening triage and effective treatment to limit cross-infection within healthcare facilities.
The measles vaccination campaign has been accelerated. Accordingly, the Lam Dong Department of Health has implemented supplementary vaccinations for high-risk groups, including: children aged 6 months to under 9 months in high-risk areas, areas with measles cases/outbreaks, and children aged 1 to 10 years who have not received both doses of the measles-containing vaccine. Results show that the vaccination rate reached over 95% for both groups. Specifically, 4,594 out of 4,807 children aged 6 months to under 9 months were vaccinated (95.57%) and 6,111 out of 6,328 children aged 1–10 years were vaccinated (96.57%).
Communication efforts have been intensified across multiple channels: television, radio, social media, reaching individual households and schools.
