The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to change the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2025, adding two more school days compared to the previously planned dates.
Students from Phan Van Tri Primary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) participate in activities during the 2024 Spring Festival.
According to the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the department has proposed changing the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2025 to better suit the reality and ensure sufficient time for implementing the school year plan.
The holiday period will start from January 23, 2025 (the 24th day of the 12th lunar month) until February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month), a total of 11 days.
With this proposal, the Lunar New Year holiday will be extended by 2 days compared to the schedule stipulated in the 2024-2025 school year timetable previously issued by the City People's Committee. This is to facilitate travel for students and parents during the holiday and to avoid impacting the school year timetable.
According to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule stipulated in the 2024-2025 school year plan issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, this school year, more than 1.7 million preschool children and students from primary to high school in Ho Chi Minh City will have their Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month).
Based on the Lunar New Year holiday schedule mentioned above, including weekends before and after the specified period, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.
Meanwhile, for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 (Year of the Dragon), students in Ho Chi Minh City had a break from February 5th, 2024 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 18th, 2024 (the 9th day of the 1st lunar month). Including weekends before and after the stipulated period, students in Ho Chi Minh City had a total of 16 days off.
