Tourism is booming during the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

This year's April 30th - May 1st holiday, as per regulations, offers the entire country a five-day break, from Wednesday (April 30th) to Sunday (May 4th). The tourism market for this period has been heating up daily. Independent travel is on the rise, with a significant increase in the number of individual travelers searching for and booking flights early. As a result, some flights to popular tourist destinations are filling up very quickly, even selling out at convenient departure times.

According to travel agencies, this year, the destinations that continue to be preferred by domestic tourists are Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Phan Thiet… The orchards and waterways of the Southwestern Mekong Delta, the scenic routes of the Northwest and Northeast, and heritage sites such as Hue, Hoi An, Ninh Binh… also attract attention.

In addition, quite a few people are planning trips abroad, most commonly to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea, and other destinations.

According to experts, major tourism fairs held just before the holiday with attractive promotional programs will make the tourism market during the April 30th - May 1st period even more vibrant.

During this period, Saigontourist Travel Agency is launching 84 international and 45 domestic tour itineraries with discounts of up to 10 million VND for tours lasting 4-12 days, departing continuously from April 23rd to May 1st nationwide.

With its international tour packages, this travel agency focuses on highlight itineraries linked to seasonal festivals in various countries, such as tours exploring the Fuji Shibazakura Flower Festival in Japan, admiring the vibrant carpets of moss phlox blooming at the foot of Mount Fuji; tours to admire the colorful tulip fields at the Keukenhof Flower Festival in the Netherlands, or tours experiencing the Sydney Light Festival in Australia…

Dat Viet Tour also runs a "Book Early - Get Big Discounts" program, offering deep discounts of up to 4 million VND for overseas tours and up to 1 million VND for domestic tours (applicable to groups of 5 or more)...

According to experts, major tourism fairs held just before the holiday, such as the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2025 (April 3-6); the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 (April 11-13); and especially the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2025 (April 10-13) with attractive promotional programs, will make the tourism market during the April 30-May 1 holiday even more vibrant.

Surveys conducted on several online ticketing platforms and travel agencies reveal a significant increase in round-trip airfares for popular routes such as Hanoi-Phu Quoc, Hanoi-Nha Trang, Hanoi-Quy Nhon, and Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City. This has led many to worry that domestic tourism will once again be at a disadvantage, as it has been in recent travel seasons.

However, according to some experts' analysis, this year's holiday season will see a relatively even distribution of travel demand across domestic and international routes, as travel companies have prepared a diverse range of products capable of meeting various needs; and localities and destinations are also implementing many policies to stimulate tourism.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said: The number of tourists during the April 30th - May 1st holiday this year will increase significantly; specifically for Da Nang, the number of international tourists is expected to increase dramatically by about 20-25%, and domestic tourists will also increase by 10-15% compared to the same period last year.

According to Mr. Dung, although airfares have increased sharply during this period, many large travel companies had proactively worked to secure tickets at acceptable prices beforehand. Tourists who book services early through travel companies will get much more reasonable costs. Furthermore, to avoid being affected by high airfare prices, some tourists can use other modes of transportation. “Currently, Da Nang has developed a fairly diverse system of road and rail tourism products, meeting the needs of individual travelers and families.”

"In addition, short-term road trips to Da Nang from neighboring localities are now available, along with parking lots and shuttle centers to facilitate travel for tourists using private vehicles. Da Nang has also implemented peak season stimulus programs for 19 provinces in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, along with many other incentives, promising to attract a large number of tourists during the holiday," said Mr. Cao Tri Dung.

To "cool down" airfare costs, Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel, said the company is promoting charter tours, chartering entire flights for some international routes to Japan, Bhutan, China, etc. Thanks to this method, a tour to Japan that previously cost over 40 million VND now only costs around 25 million VND; and a tour to China also costs only a little over ten million VND... This travel agency has also launched many overland tours ranging from 4 to 11 days.

Notably, with 18 branches in various provinces and cities, Saigontourist is developing a range of intra-city and intra-provincial tourism products. Like many other travel companies, this travel agency also offers various integrated travel packages including airfare, accommodation, airport transfers, and entrance tickets to entertainment venues.

This year's holiday season is filled with the festive atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. Many special cultural, artistic, and sporting events will be organized.

According to information from the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, from April 25th to May 5th, Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights per day) on domestic routes, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year; providing approximately 1.5 million seats, a 22% increase compared to the same period last year.
