On the first day back to work after the Lunar New Year holiday, as if by promise, people across the province eagerly planted trees, ushering in a prosperous new year. Each tree planted represents hopes and expectations, anticipating good fortune. Visiting Tien Tien commune in the early days of the new year, we were immersed in the bustling atmosphere of labor in the gardens and fields. Taking advantage of the favorable weather in early spring, the people here have begun planting new trees, with many households renovating low-yielding crops by grafting new, high-quality varieties. With the right direction and the dynamism and creativity in labor and production of the people here, to date, over 540 hectares of low-yielding rice fields have been converted to fruit tree cultivation in concentrated specialized areas, forming models of growing Dien pomelo, oranges, longan, hybrid lychee, egg lychee, etc., yielding much higher incomes than before. In addition, many types of fruit trees, timber trees, and shade trees planted in scattered locations around offices, public buildings, and roadsides contribute to increasing income while creating a green, clean, and beautiful environment. Comrade Nguyen Quy Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Tien commune, informed: Based on the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the People's Committee of the commune has developed a plan to organize the "Tree Planting Festival to Forever Remember Uncle Ho" on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026 as well as throughout 2026. The people's tree planting will be carried out throughout 2026, in accordance with the tree planting season; Selecting native tree species, economically valuable trees, trees with scenic value, and beautiful flowers... utilizing land on sidewalks, flower gardens, office grounds, schools, health centers, community centers, residential areas, traffic corridors, riverbanks... to plant trees, linking people's tree planting with the continued implementation of the new rural development program and the construction of model new rural roads. The entire commune strives to plant 360 shade trees; renovate and replace 7,000 - 9,600 low-economic-value fruit trees with high-economic-value fruit trees (egg lychee, rock sugar longan...) suitable to the local soil, climate, and advantages.
In Dong Thuy Anh commune, a locality that considers forests as its "blood and flesh," following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, in addition to launching scattered tree planting in the fields, the commune aims to create forests to prevent saltwater intrusion and minimize the harmful effects of the marine environment on the lives of the people. Choosing February 28th to launch the Tree Planting Festival in the commune's wetland nature reserve, Dong Thuy Anh strives to plant 9,000 mangrove trees and 2,000 casuarina trees with the belief and hope for a peaceful and harmonious life. So that after months of sailing at sea, fishermen can return safely to their peaceful homes and warm villages.

In 2026, the entire province aims to plant over 1.4 million scattered trees of various types. To achieve this target, all levels and sectors are focusing on implementing many solutions, including organizing the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" on February 23rd (the 7th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse) throughout the province. The organization of the Tree Planting Festival holds great significance; therefore, preparation is being closely supervised and urgently implemented by all levels, sectors, and localities. This year's provincial-level Tree Planting Festival launch ceremony was held at the memorial site of scholar Le Quy Don in Le Quy Don commune. Mr. Nguyen The Man, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Quy Don commune, stated: The locality has prepared the ground, planting holes, environmental sanitation, and other necessary conditions for the ceremony; directing the commune police and related forces to guide and regulate traffic, and ensure security and order in the area where the launch ceremony is held.
Planting trees at the beginning of the Lunar New Year has become a widespread movement and a beautiful tradition in Vietnamese culture. Today, tree planting is organized systematically, truly becoming a lively festival, considered a responsibility by all citizens, contributing to environmental protection. Based on practical conditions, the province has guided each locality to develop its potential and advantages to select suitable tree species for planting, bringing practical benefits. In 2025, the entire province planted 13 hectares of new forest, protected over 4,100 hectares of existing forest, and planted an additional 1.48 million scattered trees of various types, contributing to increasing forest area, improving forest quality, enhancing coastal protection, mitigating natural disasters, improving the environment, and adapting to climate change. Amidst the vast space, each sapling planted represents a promise, a responsible affirmation of a green, clean, and beautiful environment for future generations.
