Enjoy a workout on the ice rink.
At 7 PM every day, the HM roller skating rink (86 Le Duan Street, Quy Nhon Ward) comes alive with the cheerful laughter and chatter of many young people practicing. On the rink, those who are just starting to learn the sport are diligently guided by coaches on how to maintain balance, stand steadily, and move on their roller skates.

Many of the children were clumsy and kept falling during their first training session. However, they quickly got up and continued practicing with enthusiasm and determination. In another corner of the rink, more experienced students confidently performed difficult techniques such as overcoming obstacles or accelerating on the slide with skill.
The HM roller skating rink was put into operation by Mr. Tran Manh Hung (born in 1995, Chairman of the Quy Nhon Roller Skating Club) at the beginning of 2026. With over 15 years of experience in this sport, Mr. Hung is one of the pioneers of the roller skating movement in the locality.
Mr. Hung shared: “The Quy Nhon Skating Club was established in 2020, but training conditions were limited. Building the skating rink aims to create a more structured training space for the children, while also contributing to the development of community sports. We hope this will be a place where children can improve their health, increase their stamina and reflexes, and connect with other young people who share the same passion.”
According to Mr. Hung, to skate safely, players must master the skills of maintaining balance, controlling speed, and coordinating body parts flexibly. Besides standard skates, trainees are also equipped with helmets and protective gear for hands, elbows, and knees. Currently, HM rink is open from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM daily. The largest age group participating in training is 5-15 years old.
In addition to classes at the HM rink, the club also offers classes at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon ward) to make it easier for more young people to access this sport. The club also provides rental services for skates and protective equipment, and offers training support for beginners.
Recognizing the benefits of roller skating, many parents confidently choose to enroll their children in training. Ms. Thai Nguyen Hoang Vy, parent of Do Trung Kien (Quy Nhon Nam ward), said: “Since learning to roller skate, my son has become more confident, spends less time on his phone and watching TV. He has also made many friends with similar interests.”
Spreading the movement, aiming for high achievements.
Not stopping in Quy Nhon, with a team of well-trained coaches, Mr. Tran Manh Hung continued to expand activities to other localities and established the An Nhon Skating Club, Tay Son Skating Club, Dai Phu Gia Skating Club (Quy Nhon Dong ward) and Van Canh Skating Club. Each club attracts about 20 members who regularly participate in training.

Do Thuy Tien (village 1, Van Canh commune), a member of the Van Canh Roller Skating Club, shared: “I really enjoy this sport because it allows me to exercise and show off my dexterity and agility on roller skates. I will continue practicing to improve my skills.”
Besides focusing on training, the Quy Nhon Roller Skating Club also regularly organizes tournaments to create opportunities for interaction, competition, and skill enhancement for young people. At the end of May, the Roller Sports Summer Skating Tournament 2026, organized by the club, attracted 110 athletes from various age groups competing in the Speed 100m and obstacle course events.
Previously, in February 2026, the club also organized the Roller Sports Skating Tournament - Open Club Tournament 2026 and received a positive response from many athletes in the province. From these tournaments, some talented students with good achievements will be selected by the club to participate in tournaments inside and outside the province.
On June 14th, the Quy Nhon Roller Skating Club will send four athletes to participate in the 2026 National Roller Sports Age Group Championships held in Dong Thap province. Tran Tri Nhan (12 years old, from Quy Nhon Nam ward), one of the selected participants, said: “This is my first time competing in roller skating outside the province. I will try my best to bring home an achievement for the club.”
Sharing his vision for the future development of the movement, Mr. Tran Manh Hung said: "The club will continue to improve the quality of training, expand training locations throughout the province, and create more opportunities for young people to compete and participate."
