Le Huynh Duc is surrounded by turmoil.

The highly anticipated industry derby ultimately turned out to be one-sided, with Ho Chi Minh City Police FC (CATP) suffering a 0-3 defeat against Hanoi Police FC (CAHN) at their home ground in Binh Duong, in Round 19 of the V-League 2025-2026 on April 19th.

This was CATP FC's third consecutive heavy defeat, conceding 10 goals and failing to score a single. This is unbelievable for a team led by former renowned Vietnamese football striker Le Huynh Duc. "The coaching staff needs to change something; this is our responsibility. We haven't found a way for the players to score," admitted coach Le Huynh Duc.

During the crucial final stages of the season, CATP FC experienced a slump. Their key players were largely out of form, and their playing style became increasingly ineffective as opponents, accustomed to Lê Huỳnh Đức's overlapping runs and crosses for headers, easily neutralized their tactics. However, suffering three consecutive heavy defeats was quite surprising. The quality of CATP FC's squad wasn't so poor that they couldn't recover from losses like 0-4 against Thanh Hóa and 0-3 against Hải Phòng .

Striker Nguyen Tien Linh has gone 14 consecutive matches without scoring in the V-League 2025-2026. Returning to the Binh Duong stadium where he made his name, Tien Linh was also unable to end his goal drought that has lasted for the past six months.

In 69 minutes on the field, Tien Linh's most notable moment was a shot that hit the crossbar in the first half against CAHN. Another striker who once played for the Vietnamese national team, Dinh Thanh Binh, also continued to be "ineffective." He hasn't scored a single goal in 8 appearances since transferring from Ninh Binh Club in the middle of the season.

The poor form of CATP FC, the prolonged lack of goals from Tien Linh and Thanh Binh are clearly limitations of coach Le Huynh Duc. Like Tien Linh, young striker Dinh Bac (CAHN) also went more than a dozen matches without scoring, but he has made a comeback under coach Alexandre Polking, scoring 4 goals in 3 consecutive matches. Meanwhile, Le Huynh Duc is still struggling with Tien Linh and his other underperforming strikers.

CATP FC currently sits in 7th place with 26 points after 19 matches, not facing relegation worries like bottom-placed SHB Da Nang, who have lost 4 consecutive games. Their chances of breaking into the top 5 are still alive, as they are only 1 point ahead of 5th-placed Hai Phong, with 7 rounds remaining. However, a team once considered a "symbol of comeback" is performing increasingly poorly towards the end of the season, clearly falling short of expectations.
