Sharing about the incident of VNDirect Securities Joint Stock Company (VNDirect) at the first quarter regular press conference of the Ministry of Finance, on the afternoon of March 29, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi said that any public Any securities company that has problems will affect the stock market.

“The stability and safety of the stock market is extremely important. After the incident of VNDirect being attacked, the Ministry of Finance reminded market members to improve their awareness of information security," Mr. Chi said.

Also at the press conference, Mr. Pham Hong Son - Vice Chairman of the State Securities Commission said that the attack on VNDirect was a very unfortunate incident. According to VNDirect's report, the company's system was attacked by professional hackers.
As soon as it happened, VNDirect reported to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), State Securities Commission. This is a problem of VNDirect and does not affect the trading system on the stock market.
HNX and Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange proactively disconnected VNDirect. Customer's assets are guaranteed. The State Securities Commission always places high requirements on security and prepares solutions when incidents occur.
“In 24 years of operation, the stock market has not had any major problems. Securities companies themselves also invest large amounts of money in information security. We have invited the police to investigate the incident where VNDirect was attacked. This does not affect the ability to upgrade the market in the near future," Mr. Son said.
Previously, on March 24, international hackers attacked and encrypted VNDirect's technology system. According to VNDirect, the business successfully cleared the transaction flow on the simulated environment at 3:22 p.m. on March 28. At the same time, procedures are being completed with the information security management agency to officially connect with HOSE and HNX.
In a letter sent to customers on March 29, Ms. Pham Minh Huong - President of VNDirect, said that VNDirect plans to reopen stock trading activities on April 3. VNDirect is researching reasonable support policies and will share them with investors as soon as possible.
However, VNDirect's immediate priority is to restore the system and prevent future risks, reopening to serve investors.
