Newcastle is gradually regaining its position in England. |
The statement that drew attention came from beIN Sports journalist Richard Keys. He said PIF was "looking to divest" and had received interest from several partners.
According to Keys, Saudi Arabia valued Newcastle United at £1 billion, although a more realistic figure might be around £500 million. He also suggested that PIF's project with the North East England club had come to an end.
However, sources from Chronicle Live confirm that PIF has no intention of selling the club. Instead, they are still developing long-term plans, aiming for bigger goals in the future. This is seen as a move to quell rumors and strengthen fan confidence.
Since completing the £305 million acquisition of Newcastle in 2021, PIF has held an 80% stake and invested heavily in the squad. Initial results have been seen with the team returning to the Champions League and gradually establishing its position in the Premier League.
With a solid financial foundation and a clear strategy, Newcastle clearly has no reason to stop, despite the rumors circulating outside.
Newcastle have not had a very successful season. Currently, the club sits 12th in the Premier League, six points behind a European qualification spot.
