The fine traditions of Vietnamese women are always preserved and promoted. Today, many women are successful in business , fulfilling their roles as a strong support system for their families while also contributing to society.
I met Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Phuong in Binh Kien ward on a scorching hot day, but her radiant, gentle smile was enough to let me feel the positive energy of this dynamic and lively woman. After many years working in tailoring, she boldly switched to baking because of her passion. For nearly 10 years, baking has become her main source of income, helping her raise her children, cover living expenses, and provide for charitable work.
Particularly over the past eight years, Ms. Phuong has not only been a member of the local Women's Entrepreneurship Club but also a member of the Firefly Volunteer Group. Every day, she goes to the Tam An free meal shop to pick up meals to distribute to elderly people living alone in the neighborhoods. She also established her own An Vui kitchen. Here, she and her friends pool money and labor to cook and support the poor and patients in hospitals in Tuy Hoa and Binh Kien wards.

Sharing about her current work, the woman born in 1978 candidly stated that she strives every day, prioritizing her work and family; the rest of her time is dedicated to social work, helping the poor, and also taking care of herself. Ms. Phuong also creates joy for herself by tending to her succulent garden at home, which helps her relax and motivates her for new workdays, making life more interesting. “Nothing comes naturally. Every woman must work, must have a stable job, whether the income is high or low. Women should create joy and maintain a positive spirit so they can share, bring joy and happiness to others, and attract more people to join them. I always look to the good behavior of my children, the happiness of my family, my own meticulousness, and what I have given to rise up and receive peace,” Ms. Phuong confided.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Hamlet 1b, Ea M'droh Commune (formerly Cu M'gar District), comes from a farming family. She diligently engages in farming and agricultural product trading, earning approximately 500 million VND annually – a considerable sum in rural areas. According to her, while not a large sum, it provides a stable income, giving her confidence, allowing her to support herself and her family, and assist those in need.
Skilled in economic activities, Ms. Phuong earned the trust of the villagers and was invited to participate in local women's affairs. Having worked at the Women's Union of Village 1b since 2016, she was recently nominated as Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Village 1b, Ea M'droh Commune. Her excellent work has earned her numerous commendations and certificates of merit from the Provincial Women's Union, the former District People's Committee, and the Commune People's Committee. Most recently, she was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Central Women's Union for her achievements in implementing the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" campaign in Village 1b.

For over 10 years, Ms. Phuong has actively promoted and encouraged families in the village to participate in the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" campaign. As a result, 98% of households in the village have achieved the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" standard, and 80% have achieved the "5 Yes's, 3 Cleanliness" standard; there is no domestic violence in the village, and all children attend school. Families strictly adhere to population policies; 18 poor households have risen out of poverty and achieved sustainable poverty alleviation. She has also worked with other women to cultivate and maintain flower-lined roads, clean up litter-free streets, and share with those in difficult circumstances, including orphaned children. Her actions have contributed to building happy families, instilling confidence in women, and spreading beautiful cultural values in families and villages, transforming the face of the countryside today.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong shared: “The strength and motivation that have helped me continue my work until today comes from the support of my family, my own reputation, and my relentless efforts to overcome difficulties and fulfill the responsibilities that my family and society have entrusted to me. That strength also comes from my inner resilience, self-confidence, and ability to build a happy life without relying on others. I hope that all women will spread these positive values, so that every family home becomes a place filled with love.”
As a police officer, after graduating in 2003, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu began working at the Provincial Police Department. Ms. Thu shared: “Each person, each woman, has a different starting point, conditions, circumstances, living environment, and work environment. However, in any environment, field, or context, women should truly love themselves, love the environment they are working in, and love the family they live with. And no matter how difficult or challenging things may be, women must truly strive and make an effort to overcome themselves. That is the condition that helps women assert themselves and succeed.”
