Composer Dinh Tram Ca, born in 1943, whose real name was Mac Phu, was a renowned musician, poet, and teacher. Before 1975, he appeared on the literary scene in South Vietnam with his poetry collection "Night Eyes" (1969). Simultaneously, he taught literature until 1975.
In terms of music, he had over 100 songs released before the reunification of the country. Music lovers know him through songs such as "Lullaby of Old Love," "Homeland River," "Fly Away the Drizzle," "Sad Phoenix," etc. Among them, "Lullaby of Old Love " and "Homeland River" are the two most famous works.
The lullaby "Old Love" was composed by the musician on his way to visit his mother. By chance, the song came into the hands of singer Le Thu. In 1967, the female singer recorded it and performed it on stages in Saigon. The work quickly spread beyond the author's expectations. Musician Dinh Tram Ca once said about this work: "The recording rights were very expensive. It was worth more than 10 gold bars. I was struggling financially at the time, so receiving such a large fee was like finding a comfortable bed when you're sleepy."

The songs of Dinh Tram Ca have been performed by famous singers such as Le Thu, Hong Nhung, Phuong Hong Que, Phi Nhung, etc., on stages both domestically and internationally.
In the early 1990s, musician Dinh Tram Ca collaborated as an editor for Saigon Audio record company. He was one of the pioneers in creating music videos for commercial sale.
The musician also devoted much of his passion to poetry. He considered poetry his first love, a companion throughout his turbulent life. "It's no surprise that many poets call me a musician, and conversely, musicians call me a poet. I can handle both in life. I didn't have the opportunity to live and work in a professional artistic environment, but my creative instincts surged strongly even while I was still in school. Back then, the poems I wrote were popular among my friends, and I wrote music just for fun," the musician once shared. In 2000, Dinh Tram Ca stopped composing both music and poetry.
