Restarting the Hung Vuong road project connecting the Eastern Economic Corridor.

This morning, February 23rd, information from the Quang Tri Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board indicated that, after a long period of suspension, the Hung Vuong road project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor and the Southeast Economic Zone, specifically the section passing through Trieu Phong district, which is part of the Basic Infrastructure for Comprehensive Development Project of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh , and Quang Tri provinces (BIIG2), officially restarted construction yesterday morning, February 22nd.

The Hung Vuong road project, connecting the East-West Economic Corridor and the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, has a total length of nearly 4.2 km, comprising two routes: the main route, Hung Vuong road, and the branch route, Bao Dai road. The project, managed by the Department of Planning and Investment, passes through Trieu Ai commune (Trieu Phong district) and is implemented by the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board.

Construction began in November 2021, with the contractor, a joint venture between Asia Eastern Construction Investment Group JSC (HPP) and Dong Do Group JSC, scheduled for completion in August 2023, after a contract adjustment on May 30, 2024. However, years have passed, and the slow and sluggish construction has left the entire project unfinished, affecting the lives and livelihoods of the local people.

Due to delays, the investor has terminated its cooperation with this contractor, sought another qualified unit, and restarted the project. This is an important project aimed at strengthening inter-regional connectivity and expanding the socio-economic development space of the province in general and Trieu Phong district in particular.

To date, the project is still facing land clearance issues with 8 households, of which 7 households have not yet agreed on the compensation plan along the Bao Dai branch road. After restarting, the project is being actively implemented and is expected to be completed in September 2025.
