Tourists experience the traditional drum-beating art of the Muong ethnic people in Tan Son commune.
During the Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in 2026, Tan Son commune created a striking highlight with its unique and captivating atmosphere at Cultural Camp No. 5 (formerly Thanh Son - Tan Son area). Built in the style of a traditional Muong stilt house, the camp served not only as an exhibition space but also as a gathering place for the dissemination of distinctive cultural values. Folk performances were vividly and attractively recreated, drawing large numbers of locals and tourists to visit and experience them. In particular, the performance program (on the 6th day of the 3rd lunar month) by Tan Son commune, featuring over 100 performers and cultural figures along with more than 20 outstanding acts, ignited the festival atmosphere, demonstrating the meticulous investment, dedication, and passion for art of the ethnic minority community.
Comrade Tran Tan Giang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Son commune - happily stated: Thanks to thorough preparation, a spirit of unity and creativity, Tan Son, along with other communes in the cluster, excellently won first prize at the Cultural Camp. During this event, the unit also coordinated with Thanh Son, Lai Dong, and Xuan Dai communes to select participants and won second prize at the Phu Tho Provincial Folk Arts Festival during the Hung King's Commemoration Day - Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week. In the crossbow shooting competition within the framework of the festival's sports activities, the commune's crossbow team also made its mark with a second prize in the women's individual kneeling shooting category. Through these achievements, the image of Tan Son, a homeland rich in tradition and identity, was widely promoted, inspiring a strong desire for development in the new era.
Besides the predominantly Muong population, the commune is also home to other ethnic groups such as the Dao, Mong, Thai, La Chi, Tay, and Nung. Each ethnic group preserves its own unique and distinctive culture. Particularly noteworthy are the traditional festivals that reflect the strong ethnic identity, such as the Muong's "Going Down to the Fields" festival and the Cua Thanh Temple festival. The local authorities also focus on preserving stilt house architecture and promoting the cultural heritage of the Dao people's "Coming-of-Age Ceremony." Furthermore, they prioritize the establishment and maintenance of clubs for traditional folk singing, including "Vi" singing, "Thuong Rang - Bo Meng," "dam duong," "chuong" dance, "sinh tien," and traditional crafts.

The cultural performances, rich in the unique cultural identity of the ethnic minority communities in Tan Son commune, left a positive impression at the 2026 Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week.
The commune has 37 residential areas, including 21 particularly disadvantaged areas. The majority of the people's livelihoods depend on agriculture and forestry. For the period 2025-2030, the commune Party Committee has set 16 targets, 5 key tasks, and 2 breakthroughs to ensure rapid and sustainable development of Tan Son commune, improve people's lives, strengthen national defense and security, and build a strong and comprehensive political system. Comrade Tran Tan Giang, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, emphasized: "Preserving the cultural values of ethnic minorities is not only a responsibility towards heritage but also aims to achieve a 'dual goal' of promoting tourism." Given the difficult living conditions of ethnic minorities, the indigenous cultural resources in Tan Son have become a favorable foundation for developing cultural tourism, ecotourism, community tourism, and experiential tourism. These activities have contributed to poverty reduction and narrowing the development gap. When people are proud of their cultural identity and see its economic value, they will proactively preserve and pass it on to future generations. Many artisans, festivals, and traditional crafts have been revived thanks to the demand from economic, social, cultural, and tourism activities.
Local Party committees and authorities are strengthening measures to develop the tourism economy and improve the lives of the people. This includes promoting the potential and advantages of cultural tourism and community tourism; mobilizing resources from policies and support projects to preserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage; promoting the role of the community in protecting and exploiting heritage; restoring and renovating heritage sites and traditional craft villages to create unique tourism products, combining culture with spiritual, ecological, and agricultural tourism; and simultaneously promoting and building the brand of Tan Son's cultural and community tourism.
