Dr. Do Huy Dinh graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1983-1989, specializing in general surgery and obstetrics. In 1990, he was assigned to work at Cam Pha Coal Hospital. From the days when facilities were scarce and personnel were limited, he grew alongside the hospital, witnessing and contributing to the development of Cam Pha Regional General Hospital today. Recalling his early years in the profession, Dr. Dinh shared: Cam Pha at that time was a coal mining industrial area, so the hospital frequently received serious emergency cases due to work accidents, traffic accidents, drowning, and gas asphyxiation in the mines. Professional conditions and resuscitation equipment were limited, but patients could not wait. There were cases of multiple injuries, and cases of gas asphyxiation that were brought to the hospital in a very critical condition, forcing the medical team to act urgently every minute. That work environment instilled in me calmness, caution, and a sense of responsibility in dealing with each patient case.
After 2000, the hospital was transferred to the direct management of the Department of Health , and gradually received investment in facilities, equipment, and expanded specialized techniques. As Deputy Director of the hospital and Head of the Intensive Care, Toxicology, and Hemodialysis Department, Dr. Dinh and the department team implemented many techniques in resuscitation treatment, such as: hemodialysis for patients with chronic kidney failure, continuous hemodialysis for patients with septic shock, poisoning, and multiple organ failure... Mastering these techniques allowed many patients to receive treatment at the regional level, reducing the pressure of referrals and increasing the chances of recovery.
Another notable achievement was Dr. Dinh's proposal to invite specialists from Viet Duc Hospital to assist in complex surgical cases such as liver and gallbladder diseases, stomach problems, hemorrhoids, and bone fractures due to trauma. During these surgeries, he was directly responsible for anesthesia, resuscitation, and post-operative treatment. This was a quiet but crucial role, contributing to ensuring patient safety throughout the treatment process.

Not only is Dr. Dinh highly skilled professionally, but he is also remembered by his colleagues as a mentor who always guides young doctors with his experience in handling difficult cases and instills in them professional courage, perseverance, and dedication to patients. Dr. Pham Huu Giang (Deputy Head of the Intensive Care Unit - Toxicology - Artificial Kidney Department) shared: "The Intensive Care Unit is where the line between life and death is often very thin. For young doctors, that pressure is not easy to overcome without the guidance of those who came before us. Dr. Do Huy Dinh is both a colleague and a mentor who has guided us from the very beginning of our careers. He taught us caution in every prescription, calmness in the face of serious cases, and how to understand the worries of patients and their families. These are lessons that have stayed with us throughout our careers."
Dr. Dinh also devotes much of his energy to scientific research. From 2025 to the present, he has directed and implemented over 200 scientific research projects at the hospital. These projects focus on emergency resuscitation, treatment of complex internal medicine diseases, hemodialysis, management of chronic kidney disease patients, improvement of care procedures, and application of new techniques in treatment. Many research results have been applied in practice, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.
In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Do Huy Dinh actively participates in charitable activities for community health. He has initiated and organized many free medical examination and treatment programs for the poor and disadvantaged in remote areas; and he has mobilized colleagues and charitable organizations to support the treatment costs for patients with serious illnesses. These persistent efforts have contributed to helping many patients have better access to healthcare services.
In 2010, Dr. Do Huy Dinh was awarded the title of "Outstanding Physician" by the President of Vietnam. He also received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his outstanding achievements during the period 2009-2013, along with numerous other awards from the Ministry of Health, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Quang Ninh health sector. These recognitions are valuable milestones in the dedication of this physician from the mining region. But what stands out even more is his dedication and meticulousness in each patient case; his perseverance in implementing new techniques; and his responsibility in mentoring younger generations of doctors.
