Customers receive encouragement awards in the "Customers with Solutions for Efficient and Economical Electricity Use" competition in 2025.
Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Power Company, said: In the first nine months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company implemented many activities to promote energy saving and raise community awareness about environmental protection. A highlight was the intensified communication and mobilization of electricity customers in the city to participate in the contest on the EVNSPC customer care application launched by the Southern Power Corporation.
As a result, after 3 months of implementation (from May 1st to July 31st, 2025), the city had 20,565 electricity customers with signed electricity purchase contracts for household use participating in the competition. Of these, 48 customers won prizes, correctly answering 5 questions from the Organizing Committee and proposing innovative, practical, and widely applicable electricity saving solutions; simultaneously, their electricity consumption in the 3 months (May, June, July) of 2025 was lower than the same 3 months in 2024.
According to Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, this year's competition has many new and outstanding features compared to 2024, namely a higher number of participating customers than last year, especially many customers with good initiatives and rich experience in using electricity economically in daily life, contributing to the formation of good habits in each family.
As one of the first prize winners in the competition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Gam from Hung Phu ward shared: "When participating in the competition, I always made sure to turn off electrical appliances when not in use; I only used the air conditioner when necessary and adjusted the temperature to 26 degrees Celsius or higher. In the cool afternoons, I often opened the windows in my house to let in natural breeze… As a result, in May, June, and July 2025, my household electricity consumption was lower than in the same period of 2024, helping my family reduce electricity costs."
According to Ms. Gam, saving electricity is not just a small action for herself, but also about instilling a habit of saving electricity in family members, contributing to the goal of environmental protection and sustainable development of the country.
Mr. Ly Van Bon, residing in Binh Thuy ward, stated: “When the electricity sector launched the competition, I participated and paid attention to implementing effective electricity-saving methods such as turning off lights and fans when not in use; reducing the number of freezers (specifically used for preserving fish cakes) from 4 to 3; making use of wind and light during the day; and limiting the simultaneous use of multiple high-power electrical appliances during peak hours to avoid overloading the power system and increasing electricity consumption in daily life…”
By implementing multiple measures simultaneously, Mr. Bon saved on his monthly electricity consumption, especially during the peak months of the hot season in 2025 (May, June, and July 2025), and won an honorable mention in the competition. More importantly, after the competition, Mr. Bon gained valuable experience in using electricity safely and economically in his daily life.
According to Can Tho City Power Company, the goal of the competition is to encourage customers to practice good electricity saving measures, thereby spreading the action to the community, so that saving electricity becomes a habit in the daily lives of all citizens. At the same time, the competition also contributes to the effective implementation of the peak electricity saving campaign during the hot season of 2025, as well as the implementation of Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening electricity saving in the period 2023-2025 and subsequent years in the city.
