Việt NamViệt Nam04/10/2023

On October 4th, at the Provincial Youth Center, the Provincial Senior Citizens Association's representative board, in collaboration with HelpAge International (HAI), organized a training course on establishing, operating, and managing intergenerational self-help clubs for the interim management boards of 9 clubs and senior citizens' association officials at all levels where clubs are implementing Project VIE085.

The training course was attended by 64 participants, including members of the Steering Committee of 9 intergenerational self-help clubs; members of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association in communes, wards, and towns with intergenerational self-help clubs; and representatives of the Elderly Association from Hoa Lu and Yen Khanh districts and Ninh Binh city.

Over the course of five days, participants will receive guidance from staff of the Project to Support Disadvantaged Elderly through the Expansion of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam, Phase 2 (referred to as Project VIE085) on how to establish, operate, and manage intergenerational self-help clubs so that they can apply this knowledge to practical activities upon returning to their localities.

The purpose of the course is to equip officials of the Elderly Association's representative boards at all levels and the executive boards with the knowledge to understand the context and necessity of intergenerational self-help clubs in addressing issues related to population aging and better serving the elderly; to build capacity for Association officials and executive boards in establishing, operating, and managing intergenerational self-help clubs…

The project aims to benefit at least 1,400 elderly people in the province, primarily those in difficult circumstances.
