Chol Chnam Thmay military and civilian Tet returns to Hon Dat

This morning, in Hon Dat commune, the military-civilian Chol Chnam Thmay Tet 2026 was held, opening a series of activities to care for the Khmer people. From this point on, works, social security works and cultural and sports activities will be deployed one after another, bringing Tet closer to the people of the village and strengthening the military-civilian relationship in the area.

According to Colonel Huynh Van Khoi - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, the military-civilian Tet with the theme "An Giang military and people celebrate Chol ChnamThmay 2026" will take place from November 14, 2025 to April 10, 2026. The program aims to propagate, educate, promote the spirit of solidarity and patriotism; unite the military and people to successfully carry out the two strategic tasks of building and defending the Fatherland, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of social security policies, building new rural areas, and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

Within the framework of the activities, many practical projects and tasks were implemented. All levels and sectors built 40 houses (VND 60 million/house) for poor and near-poor households. Ms. Thi Loan's house in Hon Queo hamlet was one of the first projects to start. Ms. Loan emotionally shared: "My old house was dilapidated and I had no money to rebuild it. Now that I have received support to build a solidarity house, I am very happy."

Organizations and unions in the province will build rural traffic bridges, carry out projects to light up rural roads, flower roads, incinerators and support water tanks for people. The Provincial Association for the Support of Poor Patients will build a bridge on the east bank of Xa Kich canal. The Provincial Farmers' Association and the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations will build two more bridges in Ben Da hamlet. The Rach Mui, Rach Bai Tre, and Co Hai Temple - Long Son Tu roads will also be installed with solar lights, adding to the flower roads that are several kilometers long, creating a spacious appearance for the Hon Dat countryside.

In the series of military-civilian Tet activities to celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay in 2026, medical examinations, free medicine, and gift giving to policy families, poor households, and students who have overcome difficulties to study well will also be carefully organized. The Red Cross, Farmers' Association, Provincial Military Command, Department of Home Affairs, Association for Supporting Poor Patients, Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange, etc. together presented hundreds of gifts, scholarships, and bicycles, demonstrating the spirit of helping each other and remembering the source of water.

The atmosphere of the military-civilian Tet will be more bustling at the closing ceremony of activities on the occasion of the Khmer people's Chol Chnam Thmay Festival in 2026. On this occasion, cultural and sports activities, traditional cake making contests of the Khmer people, fruit tray decoration, OCOP product display and exhibition of images of local socio -economic achievements will be held enthusiastically. Each part of the work has the meaning of connecting and spreading the spirit of solidarity and sharing. Chairman of the People's Committee of Hon Dat Commune Pham Thu Thuy said: "In order for the military-civilian Tet activities to take place effectively, the commune mobilizes the synchronous participation of departments, branches, organizations and people. All work together closely with provincial agencies to ensure progress according to plan, safety and meaning."

With the joint efforts and unanimity of the army and people, the 2026 Chol Chnam Thmay military-civilian New Year in Hon Dat commune promises to become a meaningful festival, contributing to helping Khmer people celebrate the New Year with more warmth and joy. This is also an opportunity to further enhance the tradition of military-civilian solidarity, adding motivation for the people to rise up to build their homeland Hon Dat to become more and more prosperous.
