According to Colonel Huynh Van Khoi, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, the Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration between the military and civilians, themed "An Giang Military and Civilians Celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay 2026," will take place from November 14, 2025, to April 10, 2026. The program aims to promote and educate, fostering a spirit of solidarity and patriotism; strengthening the bond between the military and civilians to successfully accomplish the two strategic tasks of national construction and defense; and thereby contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies, the construction of new rural areas, and the consolidation of national unity.

Within the framework of the program, many practical projects and tasks were implemented. Various levels of government and agencies built 40 houses (60 million VND/house) for poor and near-poor households. Ms. Thi Loan's house in Hon Queo hamlet was one of the first projects to be started. Ms. Loan emotionally shared: "My old house was dilapidated and I didn't have the money to rebuild it. Now that I've received support to build a solidarity house, I'm so happy."

Organizations and associations in the province will build rural traffic bridges, implement projects to illuminate rural roads, create flower-lined roads, build incinerators, and provide water storage tanks for residents. The Provincial Association for the Support of Poor Patients will build a bridge on the eastern bank of the Xa Kich canal. The Provincial Farmers' Association and the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations will build two more bridges in Ben Da hamlet. Solar-powered streetlights will also be installed along the Rach Mui, Rach Bai Tre, and Mieu Co Hai - Long Son Tu roads, beautifying kilometers of flower-lined roads and giving the rural areas of Hon Dat a more attractive appearance.

As part of the military-civilian activities celebrating Chol Chnam Thmay in 2026, free medical examinations, free medicine distribution, and gift-giving to families receiving preferential treatment, impoverished households, and students who overcome difficulties and excel in their studies will be meticulously organized. The Red Cross, the Farmers' Association, the Provincial Military Command, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Association for the Support of Poor Patients, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange, etc., will jointly distribute hundreds of gifts, scholarships, and bicycles, demonstrating the spirit of mutual support and gratitude.

The festive atmosphere of the Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration between the military and civilians will be further enlivened by the closing ceremony of activities commemorating the 2026 Chol Chnam Thmay Tet of the Khmer people. On this occasion, cultural and sports activities, a traditional Khmer cake-making competition, the decoration of the five-fruit tray, the display of OCOP products, and an exhibition showcasing the socio -economic achievements of the locality will be held enthusiastically. Each activity carries the meaning of fostering unity and spreading the spirit of solidarity and sharing. Pham Thu Thuy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hon Dat Commune, said: “To ensure the effectiveness of the Tet activities between the military and civilians, the commune mobilizes the coordinated participation of all departments, organizations, and the people. Everyone is working together closely with provincial-level agencies to ensure the progress according to plan, safely, and meaningfully.”

With the joint efforts and solidarity of the military and the people, the 2026 Chol Chnam Thmay Tet (military-civilian festival) in Hon Dat commune promises to be a meaningful celebration, contributing to a warmer and more joyful New Year for the Khmer people. This is also an opportunity to further enhance the tradition of military-civilian solidarity, providing additional motivation for the people to strive to build a more prosperous Hon Dat homeland.
