Many meaningful activities
From the very beginning of its implementation, the "Tet for Soldiers and Civilians" program in O Lam commune received close attention and guidance from the local Party committee and government, along with close coordination from the commune's Military Command, various departments and organizations, and the enthusiastic support of the local people.
With the motto "eating together, living together, working together, and celebrating Tet together with the people," officers and soldiers directly participated in many meaningful activities such as helping people repair houses, cleaning up the environment, clearing village roads and alleys, and supporting policy beneficiary families, poor households, and households with difficult circumstances to prepare for a warm and fulfilling traditional Tet holiday.

One of the highlights of this year's program is the commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the sacrifice of the Heroine of the People's Armed Forces, Neáng Nghés – a loyal Khmer daughter of the heroic land of Ô Lâm (February 10, 2026 according to the lunar calendar).
It is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the immense contributions and sacrifices of previous generations, but also a vivid and practical lesson to educate today's young generation about patriotism, unwavering will, and a sense of responsibility towards their homeland.

The "Military-Civilian Tet" program also focuses on preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Khmer ethnic group. A highlight is the activity of making ka tum cakes – a traditional delicacy indispensable during the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet festival.
Chau Danh Minh Tran, a police officer from O Lam commune, shared: “The experience of making ka tum cakes is not only a meaningful activity but also helps me understand more about the life, customs, and traditional cultural beauty of the Khmer ethnic people. This is also an opportunity for the commune police force to strengthen their bond with the people, understand them better, and thereby contribute to building a solid people's security posture right from the grassroots.”

In addition, many cultural, artistic, and sports activities were organized enthusiastically, such as: the water-carrying team, tug-of-war, sack race, cross-country running, stick pushing, and art performances… attracting a large number of people to participate. The Party Committee and local authorities also formed delegations to visit, extend New Year greetings, and present gifts to the Venerable Monks, senior monks, and priests of 15 Khmer temples in the area; and organized gatherings of former leaders, officials, civil servants, members of the armed forces, ethnic minorities, monks, and respected individuals…
Promote social and charitable activities.
Social welfare work during the "Military-Civilian Tet" (New Year) celebration also received special attention. In the warm atmosphere of the early days of the Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year, the organizing committee of the Military-Civilian Tet program in Ô Lâm commune handed over 10 solidarity houses to poor households and families of Khmer ethnic minorities. This is clear evidence of the spirit of "leaving no one behind" during Tet.

Mr. Chau Hang, 72 years old (Phuoc An hamlet), shared: “My family faced many difficulties; our house was dilapidated and we didn't have the money to repair it. The support from the local government and benefactors, providing us with a new house right before the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet holiday, has made our family's joy even more complete. This will be the most meaningful Tet of my life, having a stable home to live in with peace of mind.”
In addition, the program organizers also mobilized Brigade 416 (Military Region 9) to donate 20 gifts to students in difficult circumstances; and encouraged philanthropists to donate over 700 Tet gifts to influential people, poor and near-poor Khmer households, policy beneficiary families, and people with disabilities, helping them to have a more complete and warm traditional Tet celebration…
Lieutenant Colonel Le Quoc Phong, Commander of the Military Command of O Lam Commune, shared: “This year's Tet program for the military and civilians, organized in conjunction with the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year of the Khmer people, has yielded many practical results. The activities not only contribute to improving the lives of the people but also strengthen the solidarity between the military and the people. In the future, the Military Command of the commune will continue to coordinate with relevant departments and organizations to maintain and promote this model effectively, contributing to building an increasingly solid foundation of public support.”
