In his opening remarks, Mr. Truong Thanh Trung, Editor-in-Chief of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, stated that Phu Quoc's selection to host many important activities of the APEC 2027 High-Level Week not only holds significance as a diplomatic event but also opens up strategic opportunities for the locality to enhance its position in the Asia-Pacific region.
"APEC 2027 is both an opportunity and a test for the development capacity, governance capacity, and ability to build social consensus of localities in successfully organizing an international event, transforming the resources mobilized during the preparation process into long-term development drivers after APEC," Mr. Trung emphasized.

Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, stated that APEC 2027 is an event of special significance, opening up opportunities to promote the image of the country, foster international cooperation, and create new impetus for local development. For Phu Quoc , APEC 2027 is an opportunity to enhance its position as a leading island and beach tourism destination, thereby showcasing its unique natural, cultural, and human values to the international community, and attracting additional resources for development.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong, Director of Vinpearl Hotel Chain, stated that APEC 2027 is a special opportunity for Phu Quoc to affirm its position on the international tourism and economic map. However, experience from many destinations around the world shows that the value of a large-scale event lies not in its timing, but in its ability to transform global attention into a sustainable flow of tourists, investment, and trade for many years to come.

At the same time, Ms. Phuong also emphasized that the all-in-one model is one of the effective solutions to enhance the competitiveness of destinations and attract high-quality international tourists in the post-APEC period through four core values: improving accommodation capacity and the ability to accommodate large-scale international tourists; extending the length of stay through an integrated experience ecosystem; enhancing the capacity to accommodate MICE tourists and large-scale international events; and expanding access to high-quality international tourist sources.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Chairman of the An Giang Tourism Association, shared that in the context of increasing competition among destinations based on experiences and identity, culture needs to be positioned as a strategic resource for tourism development. Phu Quoc possesses many unique island and maritime cultural values, but these have not yet been exploited to create tourism products with depth and a distinct brand.
Mr. Huy proposed using culture as the foundation, the people as the main actors, and tourism as the means of development; while promoting the preservation and promotion of local identity associated with green tourism development, aiming to build Phu Quoc into a unique and internationally competitive island destination in the post-APEC 2027 period.
