Located about 17 km from Tam Ky city, Tam Tien commune (Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province) has attracted many domestic and international tourists in recent years, and has been widely recommended on social media. Upon visiting and admiring the beauty of this coastal area, sometimes pristine, sometimes vibrant, I understood why its reputation has spread far and wide.
We chose to stay in Ha Loc village, one of the earliest villages in the region to develop tourism services. The tranquil seaside village nestles beneath coconut trees, with most homestays renovated from the simple, moss-covered houses of fishermen. Everything is small but clean, from the roads, shops, village communal house, cultural center to the sandy beach overlooking the vast blue ocean. An afternoon stroll through the village will fill your lungs with sea breeze and provide beautiful photo opportunities. Swimming and paddleboarding on the beach with its fine sand and calm waves are also attractive activities suitable for most people.
Tam Tien is also famous for its fish market that opens on the beach before dawn, a characteristic of the fishing village that has existed for 15 years and has now become a magnet for adventurous tourists. To avoid missing these impressive moments, we woke up at 4 am and went to the beach. While it was still dark, the Tam Tien fish market appeared in the flickering light of flashlights and headlights, bustling with laughter and chatter. At dawn, the horizon turned pink, and then as the sun rose, boats filled the beach. People rowed basket boats, anchored ships, carried basins, and sorted fish... it was a busy scene. The market was crowded but orderly and efficient; by around 6 am, most of the catch had been sold and transported everywhere. At this time, tourists like us continued to stroll leisurely, enjoying the early morning nature. Those who manage to buy their desired fish and squid bring them to the small huts along the beach where the owners help prepare them into a delicious and fresh breakfast with tempting dishes such as shrimp pancakes, squid noodles, and fish porridge.
With the summer tourist season drawing to a close, Tam Tien beach is less crowded and bustling, but it still offers plenty of interesting experiences connected to the fishing village culture, such as enjoying local cuisine, snorkeling to admire coral reefs, squid fishing, and visiting traditional craft households involved in fish sauce production, boat building, and net weaving. Just remember to avoid the rainy and stormy season, and I believe everyone will have a wonderful trip to this beautiful fishing village.
