Located in an area with over 5,000 fossilized dinosaur footprints, recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage site, this region is also notable for the Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World Exhibition, a captivating tourist event combining modern technology and performing arts.
Goseong is a small, peaceful coastal town famous for its fresh seafood, but it is its dinosaur heritage that has put it on the world tourism map. Besides Colorado (USA) and the West Coast of Argentina, few places still preserve as many rare fossil remains as Goseong. Taking advantage of this unique resource, Goseong has built the Dinosaur Exhibition Center, the first dinosaur museum in South Korea, which serves as both a scientific research center and an educational and entertaining experience.
Established in 2006, the Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World Exhibition has attracted over 7.5 million visitors, becoming one of the few events organized by a local government to achieve international recognition. Beyond recreating a lost era with cutting-edge technology, the event inspires the younger generation with its science, archaeology, and creative passion. Many experts from the US and South Korea have recognized it as a promising model of innovative economics , blending entertainment with imaginative play, similar to how the science fiction film series "Jurassic Park" became a global icon of popular culture.
In 2025, the Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World Exhibition will return from October 1st to November 9th. For 33 days, visitors will immerse themselves in a vibrant space featuring life-sized dinosaur models, robot performances, fireworks and light shows, circus acts, street art, and cutting-edge technologies such as AI-generated dinosaurs. Blending science and art, past and present, Goseong is a place where visitors can find joy, knowledge, and awe at the power of nature from millions of years ago.
