Affirming the worker's mark
With over 270 thousand enterprises operating in many fields; 10 industrial parks, export processing zones, over 70 industrial clusters, Hanoi city is one of the localities with the largest labor force in the country.
The 2.7 million workers and laborers in the capital are a large force working enthusiastically, contributing significantly to the development of the capital and the country. In recent years, production and business activities have continuously grown quite well. Most recently, the industrial production index (IIP) in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 4.3% over the same period in 2024, of which March 2025 increased by 5.2%.
It is also noteworthy that in the first quarter of 2025, some processing and manufacturing industries achieved quite high growth rates compared to the same period, such as: Machinery and equipment production increased by 44.8%; production of non-metallic mineral products increased by 15.5%; textiles increased by 14.2%; motor vehicle production increased by 13.4%; metal production increased by 12.3%; garment production increased by 7.9%; repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 18.7%...
In these achievements, the workforce and the Trade Union organization have made very important contributions, with increasingly improved skills and professional expertise; gradually mastering science and technology. On the contrary, the city's programs, from launching emulation movements; supporting selection; surveying market needs, training to improve skills, introducing jobs suitable to abilities and aspirations to caring for life and spirit, have contributed to helping thousands of workers overcome difficulties and enthusiastically work in production.
According to Tran Van Giap, Chairman of the Trade Union of Omizu International Import-Export Joint Stock Company (a unit specializing in manufacturing water purifiers in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi), every year on Workers' Month, the unit organizes activities related to practical labor production. This year, the activities during Workers' Month are special in that the entire program is built around the values of health - creativity - connection. A typical example is the "Skilled Worker - Golden Hands" contest, which not only assesses professional skills, but also attaches to the criteria of labor safety, improved operations, and quality control. In particular, this year, responding to the emulation movement launched by Hanoi city and the Thanh Tri District Labor Federation, Omizu International Import-Export Joint Stock Company encourages each workshop to have at least one initiative proposal. It is gratifying that all trade union groups proactively register, with some groups submitting 2-3 ideas, showing that the movement really creates a strong driving force. Talented people are honored in front of the collective; People with initiatives are recognized by the company with bonuses and salary increases.
Workers' Month 2025 also left a big impression on workers in districts: Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Thanh Tri, Dan Phuong..., with the free health check-up program for union members and workers. Through implementation, it shows that union members and workers are satisfied with this practical activity of the Trade Union organization, especially when many units have had good ways of prioritizing the subjects to be examined.
Chairwoman of the Dan Phuong District Labor Federation Nguyen Thi Thuy said that during this year's Workers' Month, health check-ups will be organized for 120 workers, civil servants, and laborers. "The District Labor Federation prioritizes workers who have been screened for suspected cancer in 2023 and 2024; workers who have been in heavy, toxic, and dangerous jobs for 3 consecutive years or more; female workers at enterprises that employ a large number of female workers; female teachers and workers at kindergartens...", said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy.
Tens of thousands of gifts for workers
Not only workers in the above units, but tens of thousands of other workers in Hanoi also received attention and care from all levels during Workers' Month.
If in 2024, activities mainly focused on implementing resolutions and strengthening trade union organizations, in 2025, Workers' Month not only emphasized the pioneering role of workers in the new era, but also demonstrated flexible adaptation to the socio -economic situation.
The highlight of the series of activities is the program “Millions of gifts - Thank you to the workers” which will be implemented to show gratitude to the workers with long-term commitment to the enterprise, exemplary workers, and workers in difficult circumstances. Accordingly, tens of thousands of gifts will be given, along with practical care activities such as visiting, financial support and organizing vacations for workers.
Along with that is the program “Creative workers, confidently entering the new era”, calling on union members and workers to improve their skills, innovate their working style and integrate with modern labor trends. Unions at all levels will also honor workers with outstanding achievements in work, with technical innovation initiatives, and winning high prizes in skilled worker competitions.
In particular, the “Creative Labor Festival 2025” will take place with competitions to propose ideas and technical initiatives to optimize production processes, save resources and improve labor productivity, and honor advanced models.
In addition, the “May Dialogue” program and the “Party with Workers - Workers with the Party” forum will create opportunities for workers to directly dialogue with leaders of Party committees, authorities and employers. This is also an opportunity for trade unions at all levels to directly listen to and propose solutions to urgent problems of workers, develop new union members, and increase the attention and care of the whole society for the working class.
