Affirming the mark of the worker

With over 270,000 businesses operating in various sectors, 10 industrial parks and export processing zones, and over 70 industrial clusters, Hanoi is one of the localities with the largest workforce in the country.
The 2.7 million workers and laborers in the capital city represent a massive force diligently working and making significant contributions to the development of the capital and the country. In recent years, production and business activities have consistently shown strong growth. Most recently, the industrial production index (IIP) for the first quarter of 2025 increased by 4.3% compared to the same period in 2024, with a 5.2% increase in March 2025.
It is also noteworthy that in the first quarter of 2025, several processing and manufacturing sectors achieved relatively high growth rates compared to the same period last year, such as: Machinery and equipment manufacturing increased by 44.8%; manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products increased by 15.5%; textiles increased by 14.2%; motor vehicle manufacturing increased by 13.4%; metal production increased by 12.3%; garment manufacturing increased by 7.9%; repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 18.7%...
In these achievements, the workforce and trade union organizations have made a very important contribution, with their skills and professional expertise constantly improving; gradually mastering science and technology. Conversely, the city's programs, from launching emulation movements; supporting recruitment; surveying market needs; training to improve skills; introducing jobs suitable to abilities and aspirations; to caring for the lives and spirits of workers, have helped thousands of workers overcome difficulties and work enthusiastically in production.
According to Tran Van Giap, Chairman of the Trade Union of Omizu International Import-Export Joint Stock Company (a water purifier manufacturer in Thanh Tri District, Hanoi), every year during Workers' Month, the company organizes activities related to practical labor and production. This year, the activities during Workers' Month are special because the entire program is built around the values of health, creativity, and solidarity. A prime example is the "Skilled Worker - Golden Hands" competition, which not only assesses professional skills but also focuses on occupational safety, operational improvements, and quality control. In particular, this year, in response to the emulation movement launched by Hanoi City and the Thanh Tri District Labor Federation, Omizu International Import-Export Joint Stock Company encouraged each workshop to submit at least one innovative proposal. Encouragingly, all trade union branches proactively registered, with some submitting 2-3 ideas, showing that the movement truly created a strong impetus. Talented individuals were honored in front of the entire group. People with innovative ideas are recognized by the company through bonuses and salary increases.
The 2025 Workers' Month also left a significant mark on workers in districts such as Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Thanh Tri, and Dan Phuong, with a program of free health check-ups for union members and workers. The implementation showed that union members and workers were satisfied with this practical activity of the Trade Union organization, especially with many units adopting effective methods of prioritizing those who needed check-ups.
According to Nguyen Thi Thuy, Chairwoman of the Dan Phuong District Labor Union, health check-ups will be organized for 120 workers and employees during this year's Workers' Month. “The District Labor Union prioritizes workers who have been screened for suspected cancer in 2023 and 2024; workers engaged in strenuous, hazardous, or dangerous occupations for three years or more; female workers in enterprises with a large female workforce; female teachers and workers in kindergens, etc.,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy said.
Tens of thousands of gifts were given to workers.

Not only workers in the aforementioned units, but tens of thousands of other workers in Hanoi also received attention and care from all levels during Workers' Month.
While in 2024, activities mainly focused on implementing resolutions and strengthening trade union organizations, in 2025, Workers' Month will not only emphasize the pioneering role of workers in the new era, but also demonstrate flexible adaptation to the socio-economic situation.
A highlight of the series of activities is the "Million Gifts - Thank You to the Workers" program, which will be implemented to express gratitude to long-serving employees, exemplary workers, and workers in difficult circumstances. Accordingly, tens of thousands of gifts will be distributed, along with practical welfare activities such as visits, financial support, and organized retreats for workers.

Alongside this is the "Creative Workers, Confidently Stepping into a New Era" program, which calls on union members and workers to improve their skills, innovate their work style, and integrate with modern labor trends. Trade unions at all levels will also honor workers who achieve outstanding results in their work, have innovative technical improvements, and win high prizes in skilled worker competitions.
In particular, the "Creative Labor Festival 2025" will feature competitions for proposing ideas and technical innovations aimed at optimizing production processes, saving resources, and improving labor efficiency, as well as recognizing outstanding examples.
In addition, the "May Dialogue" program and the forum "The Party with Workers - Workers with the Party" will create opportunities for workers to directly engage in dialogue with Party and government leaders and employers. This is also an opportunity for trade unions at all levels to directly listen to and propose solutions to pressing issues faced by workers, recruit new members, and strengthen the attention and care of the entire society towards the working class.
