The journey brought more than 120 officials of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association to the house of People's Armed Forces Hero Tran Van On, which is now a temple to worship this young hero in Phuoc Thanh commune, Chau Thanh district ( Ben Tre province).

Also present on that trip was Mr. Hoang Don Nhat Tan, known to young people as "Uncle Sau Trieu", vice-chairman of the Thanh Doan Traditional Club. He said he joined the struggle movement of students in Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh when he was only 15 years old.
"Students at that time turned their vocational training tools into weapons, turned schools into fortresses with the determination to stand up and fight," said Mr. Sau Trieu.
This trip reminds today's generation of students of the bloody repression on January 9, 1950, which became the fuse that ignited many struggles among students, joining the fighting spirit of the people at that time.
Many students during this period heroically died, including martyr Tran Van On. And January 9th every year has become the traditional day of students and the Vietnam Student Association.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung (Head of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association) shared that the journey to the heroic homeland of Tran Van On is not only a reminder of a historical event but also hopes that the staff of the City Student Association will understand and spread the proud traditional values.
Mr. Cao Tuan Kiet (President of the Vietnam Student Association of the University of Finance and Marketing, Ho Chi Minh City) was impressed with the story about Uncle Sau Trieu's revolutionary days as part of the heroic memories of the city's youth during the resistance war.
For Hoang Khanh Bao Quyen (President of the Student Association of the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City National University), this journey is meaningful because although he has been to Ben Tre many times, this is the first time he knows about the house and temple of martyr Tran Van On.
From each meaningful story received through the trip, Bao Quyen said she will have to try her best in her role as an Association officer to develop volunteer activities and inspire friends around her.
This journey is one of the activities of a series of training programs for key staff of the Student Association of schools in the city named after Uncle Ho.
Hopefully, with the topics on skills, expertise, and problem solving in activities, organizing community activities, and portraits of Association officials previously acquired, a class of dynamic and creative student leaders will be formed and bring new vitality to the student movement in Ho Chi Minh City.
During the trip, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Student Association presented 20 gifts and scholarships to students who overcame difficulties to study well in the hometown of hero Tran Van On.
Receiving the gift, Dang Kieu Thy (class 7A, Giao Long Secondary School) said she was happy and grateful for the precious attention, giving her more motivation to always try harder and strive in her studies.
