Establishment of "Advisory Board" for Can Tho City leaders

On the afternoon of November 11, Can Tho City People's Committee had a working session with leaders of universities in the city.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, spoke at the meeting.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee; leaders of departments and branches and representatives of 8 university training units in the area.

At the meeting, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen informed that in the near future, the city will invite scientists and experts in all fields, such as: economics , education, health, culture, sports... to participate in establishing an "Advisory Board". The "Advisory Board" will support the leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee in developing resolutions, or projects to implement development strategies in the coming time.

Also at the meeting, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen expressed his wish to receive positive comments and recommendations from university leaders on the construction of a "special mechanism" to serve the city's development in the coming time.

Currently, in Can Tho City, there are 8 universities, including 4 public schools and 4 private schools. The total training scale of universities in Can Tho City is about 100,000 students; the annual enrollment target is nearly 30,000 students.

According to the leader of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City, the city currently has over 10,000 people participating in scientific research fields. If well utilized, this will be an important intellectual force to contribute to promoting the development of Can Tho City.
