
Attending the working session were Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City; Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City; leaders of departments and agencies; and representatives from 8 universities in the area.
At the meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen, informed that the city will soon invite scientists and experts in all fields, such as economics , education, health, culture, and sports, to participate in the establishment of an "Advisory Board". The "Advisory Board" will support the leaders of the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee in developing resolutions, plans, and projects to implement development strategies in the coming period.
Also at the meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen, expressed his desire to receive positive contributions and suggestions from the leaders of universities regarding the development of a "special mechanism" to serve the city's development in the coming time.
Currently, there are 8 higher education institutions in Can Tho City, including 4 public and 4 private universities. The total training capacity of higher education institutions in Can Tho City is approximately 100,000 students; the annual enrollment target is nearly 30,000 students.
According to the leaders of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City, the city currently has over 10,000 people involved in scientific research fields. If properly utilized, this will be an important intellectual force contributing to the development of Can Tho City.
