Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, stated that throughout the nation's history, rice cultivation has not only been a sustainable livelihood for millions of farmers but also the source of cultural identity, social structure, and spiritual values of the Vietnamese people.

Therefore, establishing a Rice Museum and building a symbol to honor rice cultivation in Ca Mau province is an urgent requirement, aiming to preserve traditional agricultural heritage and national culture in the context of many values being lost; at the same time, honoring the farmers who for generations have endured hardship and toiled under the sun and rain to produce rice grains that nourish the nation and the country...

The project also serves to educate about local history and culture – especially for the younger generation – thereby affirming the contributions of generations of farmers in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu in the process of forming the rice-based civilization, creating unique tourism products, contributing to sustainable socio -economic development, and improving the lives of the people.

The museum combines exhibiting artifacts with experiential activities such as rice planting, rice milling, rice pounding, and data digitization to create a digital museum. The province's orientation is to avoid duplication with museums in the Mekong Delta region, emphasizing the willpower and adaptability of farmers in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu in this "acidic and saline" land. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, with each completed section being put into operation as it is finished.

Simultaneously, Ca Mau province is implementing a project to create a symbolic representation of rice cultivation in Vinh Loi commune, standing 24 meters tall; the cluster of three rice grains is 18 meters high. The total estimated investment is approximately 20 billion VND, mainly from socialized funding. The symbol consists of three rice grains representing the stages of growth – milky stage, ripening, and germination – symbolizing the continuity, rebirth, and vitality of rice-based civilization. The interconnected shapes form an arc, evoking the image of a stork soaring over a rice field.

Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, said that the establishment of the Ca Mau Provincial Rice Museum and the symbol honoring rice is not simply about building a cultural institution, but also about affirming our responsibility in preserving memories, conserving values, and inspiring future generations.

In particular, the Ca Mau Rice Museum and the symbol honoring rice cultivation in Ca Mau province open up a new direction in harmoniously combining cultural heritage preservation with tourism development, connecting the value chain of cultural and historical values to form a "heritage route"; opening up unique tours and routes, contributing to building Ca Mau into an attractive destination in the Mekong Delta region.
