Return to your hometown to exploit its potential.
In early March, we had the opportunity to meet Mr. Ha Anh Tuan from Trung Tam village, Chi Lang commune. He started learning carpentry in 2019. Afterward, he worked in various places to gain experience. In 2022, he returned to his hometown and decided to pursue carpentry as a profession. Thanks to his talent, eagerness to learn, and ability to understand market demands, he boldly opened a workshop producing handcrafted products such as wooden statues, driftwood, wooden vases, incense, and agarwood incense cones. Mr. Tuan shared: "To expand my market, besides direct sales, I also promote my products on social media platforms. My TikTok channel currently has over 5,000 followers, and I regularly livestream to introduce my products. On average, I sell about 150 orders per month. After deducting expenses, my profit is about 30 million VND. I also provide employment for 4 workers with an income of 12-15 million VND per person per month."
Sharing the same aspiration to get rich as Mr. Tuan, Mr. and Mrs. Phan Van Mon, from Cau Gao Ngoai village, Huu Lien commune, decided to return to their hometown to start a business after many years working as factory workers. Recognizing that their family's living area was nestled among rocky mountains, frequently visited by tourists who enjoyed mountain climbing, Mr. Mon came up with the idea of opening a rest stop offering food and accommodation for groups of tourists. In 2020, he renovated his family's approximately 900 m² property into a homestay, providing services such as food, accommodation, herbal baths, herbal foot soaks, massage, mountain climbing guides, and motorbike rentals. Thanks to its convenient location and ability to meet the demand for experiential tourism , his homestay has become increasingly well-known to tourists. On average, the establishment welcomes 10 to 15 guests per day. Currently, the model not only provides employment for 4 family members but also creates jobs for 2 workers, with an income of about 8 million VND per person per month. After deducting expenses, he earns a profit of approximately 30 million VND per month.
The models of Mr. Tuan and Mr. Mon are two of many effective youth-led economic development models in the province. Currently, the entire province has more than 100 economic development models run by young people, generating incomes ranging from 100 to 500 million VND per year.

Accompanying the youth
Recently, the Provincial Youth Union has signed cooperation agreements with BIDV and VietinBank branches in Lang Son to support capital for youth entrepreneurship; and coordinated with departments, agencies, and the Vietnam OCOP Center to guide youth union members in building and completing OCOP product dossiers. In addition, the Provincial Youth Union organized the Entrepreneurship Day, implemented the Project to Support Student Entrepreneurship, and organized competitions and programs on innovation and entrepreneurship linked to digital transformation and business networking. Local youth union branches also proactively coordinated with agencies and units to provide capital, knowledge, and product distribution for youth union members' startup models.
From 2022 to the present, youth union branches at all levels have opened 38 vocational training courses, knowledge workshops, and technology transfer programs; organized 20 forums, seminars, and expert meetings attracting more than 8,400 young people. Through these activities, young people have proposed 174 ideas and projects to participate in startup competitions, of which 45 projects have received development support. In addition, capital support has been strengthened through coordination with the Social Policy Bank and preferential credit programs for young people, with a total outstanding loan balance of 1,133 billion VND, helping over 14,000 households develop production and business. Career guidance and job placement activities have also been maintained; from 2022 to the present, the entire province has provided career guidance to over 31,000 young people and placed more than 6,500 in jobs. The practical activities of youth union organizations at all levels have awakened the spirit of creativity among young people. Through these activities, many young people have boldly exploited the potential and strengths of their localities in agriculture, forestry, tourism, and unique products to start businesses and develop the economy.

Mr. Doan Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and President of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province, stated: The Provincial Youth Union identifies supporting young people in starting and developing businesses as a central and continuous task in its work and youth movement. In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union will continue to coordinate with departments, agencies, and businesses to open training courses on transferring science and technology; support young people in accessing preferential capital sources; organize investment connection forums, and study tours to learn from effective economic models. At the same time, it will focus on propaganda and guidance to awaken the aspiration for self-reliance and entrepreneurship among young people from their time in school. The goal is to create a favorable environment for young people to develop their intellect and capabilities, and boldly start their own businesses.
We believe that in the future, more and more effective startup models by young people will be formed and developed. This will not only create jobs and increase income for themselves but also contribute to socio-economic development, affirming the pioneering role of youth in building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
