Son La City undergoes urban renovation.

Aiming to develop Son La city into a first-class urban area, with green, rapid, and sustainable development, the city has focused on implementing urban beautification projects, creating a civilized and modern appearance, and contributing to improving the quality of life for its people.

The Nam La stream has been cleaned up, renovated, and its natural landscape improved.

In 2024, the city implemented six projects, including: upgrading the embankment of the Nam La stream; urban beautification for the 2025 Lunar New Year; painting road markings and installing speed bumps on traffic routes; upgrading the flower garden at Cau Trang bridge and the 26/10 park; the archway system on Hoang Quoc Viet and Hung Vuong roads in Chieng Coi ward; and the decorative lighting system on central city streets. In 2025, the city will continue to implement two projects, including: the project to renovate and upgrade Hoang Quoc Viet road and the project to invest in the construction of a square and flower garden in front of the Son La City Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee headquarters.

The City People's Committee has developed a plan and assigned specific tasks to departments and units responsible for coordinating with construction units to expedite the implementation of projects, ensuring progress and quality. To date, 3 projects have been completed and put into use, including: upgrading the embankment of Nam La stream; urban beautification for the Lunar New Year 2025; and upgrading the White Bridge Flower Garden and 26/10 Park.

The project to renovate the Nậm La stream embankment, from the Trắng Bridge to Bridge B, Northwest Square, has a total investment of 895 million VND. The Urban Environment and Services Joint Stock Company is the contractor, undertaking the following tasks: leveling the stream bed, adding a water-raising embankment downstream of the Trắng Bridge; cleaning, repairing, and upgrading the walkways, repainting the embankments on both sides of the stream; removing garbage and clearing weeds from the stream bed; partially dredging mud and soil and transporting the waste to designated areas; and other related items. The project commenced in December 2024 and is scheduled for completion at the end of January 2025. The cleaning and beautification of the stream will help reduce pollution, create a highlight for the urban area, and provide an ideal space for people to relax and stroll.

Implementing the project to renovate the White Bridge Flower Garden and the 26/10 Park in Son La City, Kim Son Co., Ltd. has focused its resources and started the project in late January 2025. Accordingly, the company has paved the walkways in the White Bridge Flower Garden and the 26/10 Park with stone; cleaned the old tiled floors and renovated the old flowerbeds, covering a total area of approximately 2,800 m2, along with several other items, with a total investment of over 2.2 billion VND. To date, the project is basically complete and is preparing for acceptance and commissioning. The completed project has received the support of the local community, creating an architectural and landscape highlight at the central intersection of the city, meeting the requirements for organizing major holidays and political events annually, and looking forward to welcoming the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.

Urban renovation projects have been invested in and constructed, bringing renewal to Son La city and demonstrating a sustainable development strategy, gradually improving and enhancing urban quality, striving to complete and improve indicators and criteria towards basically achieving the criteria of a type I urban area.
