Pursuing to the very end to demand workers' rights.
In 2023, many employees of Haprosimex Group Joint Stock Company sent letters to the Labor Newspaper complaining about the company's prolonged social insurance debt amounting to approximately 15 billion VND.
This social insurance debt has left hundreds of workers with their rights "frozen." Many are unable to finalize their social insurance records to retire, or receive maternity, sickness, death benefits, or other social security benefits, despite having worked and contributed to the company for many years.
Based on feedback from workers, reporters from the Labor Newspaper have continuously investigated the issue, producing numerous articles reflecting the reality, recording the thoughts and aspirations of workers, and closely following the handling process by relevant authorities. These articles not only reflect the story of a single enterprise but also sound an alarm about the prolonged social insurance debt, directly affecting the rights of workers.
In the same spirit of protecting workers to the very end, reporters from the Labor Newspaper have devoted considerable time to conducting a series of investigative articles on the exploitation of social housing policies in Bac Ninh - a locality with hundreds of thousands of workers employed in industrial zones.

Through on-site observations, the reporting team discovered many irregularities in the management and use of social housing. Notably, many ineligible individuals, including many foreigners, are living in apartments originally built to support low-income earners and workers.
The series of articles has attracted public attention, highlighting the urgent need to review, inspect, and rectify the management of social housing, ensuring that the State's social welfare policies reach the intended beneficiaries.
The fruits of perseverance
Regarding the social insurance debt case at Haprosimex Company, after many years of existence, following reports from the Lao Dong Newspaper, along with the involvement of the Social Insurance agency, relevant authorities, and pressure from public opinion, by the end of June 2023, the company had completed the payment of the entire social insurance debt of approximately 15 billion VND for its employees.

This result paves the way for resolving the rights of more than 500 workers who had been affected by social insurance debt that had lasted for over a decade. Many have had their social insurance records finalized to proceed with retirement procedures; many others have received maternity benefits, death benefits, and other entitlements after years of waiting.
In interviews with reporters from the Lao Dong Newspaper after their rights were resolved, many workers said that what they felt most strongly was not just the money or the completed social insurance book, but the restoration of their trust. A Haprosimex worker shared: “When the Lao Dong Newspaper got involved, we felt we were no longer alone on our journey to claim our legitimate rights.”
Regarding the series of articles on social housing in Bac Ninh, the results achieved are also noteworthy. Following the inspection and review process based on feedback from the Lao Dong Newspaper, the authorities have reclaimed nearly 100 social housing units and canceled hundreds of social housing purchase contracts due to non-compliance with regulations in some projects in the area. At the same time, 2,000 foreigners have been removed from social housing projects in the province.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Dung, Deputy Director of the Bac Ninh Provincial Department of Construction, affirmed: "Over the years, the information reported by Lao Dong Newspaper has been an important source of information for the Bac Ninh Provincial Department of Construction in identifying and handling schemes to exploit social housing policies in the area, thereby enabling appropriate handling measures in accordance with regulations."
According to Mr. Dung, handling cases of misuse of social housing not only aims to ensure the strict enforcement of the law but also contributes to bringing the State's social welfare policies to the right beneficiaries, especially low-income workers and laborers who are facing difficulties with housing.
With a nationwide network of regional offices, reporters from the Labor Newspaper closely follow the realities of workers' lives, persistently pursuing numerous cases to help reclaim their legitimate rights and interests. Each article reflects the truth, and each investigative report is meticulously crafted, contributing not only to the detection and prevention of violations of workers' rights but also to spreading faith in justice and the support of the Trade Union organization.
