The total value of production across all sectors is estimated at VND 32,580 billion (at 2010 constant prices), exceeding the plan by 1.04% and increasing by 3.7% compared to the same period last year. Of this, agriculture accounted for VND 19,592 billion, exceeding the plan by 1.62%; forestry VND 265 billion, reaching 100% of the plan; and fisheries VND 12,723 billion, exceeding the plan by 0.18%.

Thanks to the policies of the "three rural issues" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas), rice farmers in the concrete-paved canals of Phu Can commune, Tieu Can district, consistently achieve high yields.
In 2024, the province's agricultural sector continued to play a crucial role in economic growth. This result is the fruit of the province's focused efforts in synchronously implementing the "three rural issues" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas). Specifically, this is the achievement over 15 years (2008-2022) of implementing Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW, dated August 5, 2008, of the 7th Conference of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (10th term) on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas; and Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, dated June 16, 2022, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (13th term) on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
On October 19, 2022, the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee issued Action Program No. 37-CTr/TU to implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW. After nearly two years (2023-2024) of implementing Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, the province's economy continued to develop, achieving a relatively high growth rate. In 2024, the "three rural sectors" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas) in the province will develop synchronously and comprehensively; building on the achievements of the "three rural sectors" from 2008-2022 with accomplishments ranging from transportation, irrigation, improvement of crop and livestock breeds to local economic development, improvement of farmers' lives, and expansion and connection of infrastructure projects serving people's lives into the production chain…
According to Mr. Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2024, the province effectively implemented the pilot model of the project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030".
In 2024, the rice cultivation area reached 201,878 hectares, exceeding the plan by 2.77%; the average yield was 5.74 tons/ha (0.29 tons/ha higher than the same period), with an estimated production of 1.16 million tons, achieving 104.67% of the plan (an increase of 50,444 tons compared to the same period). 53,305 hectares of cash crops, short-term industrial crops, and other annual crops were planted, exceeding the plan by 10% (an increase of 579 hectares compared to the same period), with a production of 1,594,748 tons (an increase of 15,462 tons compared to the same period). During the year, 420 hectares of perennial crops were renovated and newly planted, bringing the total area to 46,270 hectares (18,750 hectares of fruit trees and 27,520 hectares of coconut trees), achieving 100% of the plan and an increase of 443 hectares compared to the same period. Production reached 845,849 tons (399,700 tons of fruit trees, 446,100 tons of coconut trees) , achieving 100.27% of the plan, an increase of 41,700 tons compared to the same period last year.
The achievements of the "three rural sectors" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas) must include the OCOP program. By the end of the year, the entire province had 350 OCOP products.
The OCOP program has contributed to an average annual GRDP growth rate of 10.83% (at 2010 constant prices) during the period 2008-2022, estimated to reach 8.74% in 2024 (Resolution target: 8.5%). This is a relatively high growth rate compared to the national average and within the Mekong Delta region. In recent years, the province has focused on breakthroughs in implementing the "three rural issues" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas), contributing to a comprehensive transformation of Tra Vinh's rural landscape.
Comrade Quang Thanh Tu, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: continuing to implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, in 2024, the Provincial Farmers' Association will coordinate to support and guide members and farmers in developing new agricultural production models; models of linkage and cooperation along the value chain; and effective economic models in agriculture and rural areas;
Specifically, the project involved the coordinated implementation of two pilot models under the "1 Million Hectares of High-Quality Rice with Reduced Emissions" project in Chau Thanh district, covering nearly 100 hectares/94 households in two cooperatives. Notably, the project also included the development of coconut cultivation under the "Key Industrial Crop Development Project until 2030" approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Directive No. 48-CT/TU, dated October 11, 2024, of the Provincial Party Committee; the Provincial Farmers' Association issued Official Letter No. 499-CV/HNDT, dated October 21, 2024, on implementing the Provincial Party Committee's Directive on coconut cultivation until 2030.
Simultaneously, the Association focuses on guiding and supporting members and farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture and rural areas; cooperative groups and production cooperatives applying high technology and digital transformation. Through this, the Association at all levels has implemented and thoroughly carried out the "Effective Mass Mobilization" model, building 119 model sites (achieving 106% of the target).
The implementation of Decision No. 182/QD-TTg dated February 20, 2024, of the Prime Minister approving the Project "Vietnam Farmers' Association's participation in the development of collective economy in agriculture until 2030" involved 895 events with 20,505 participants. This contributed to raising awareness among officials, members, farmers, and society regarding the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on the development of the collective economy, fostering self-reliance, self-improvement, and a spirit of cooperation and linkage in agricultural production and business.
In implementing the "three rural issues" program, the Farmers' Association at all levels has accompanied farmers in deploying policy-based capital to support the implementation of many economic development models; inviting businesses to build linkages with farmers in the consumption of agricultural products; transferring and training in science and technology... Most notably, the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty"; the Association at all levels organized 3,351 propaganda and dissemination sessions on the standards for excellent farmer households at all levels for more than 139,000 cadres, members, and farmers. Through propaganda and mobilization, 87,946 households registered (reaching 127.6% of the target); at the end of the year, 46,258 households met the standards (reaching 135% of the target). Simultaneously, the food safety and hygiene registration program was implemented, with 127,419 households registering (achieving 108.9% of the target).
It must be affirmed that, in implementing the "three rural issues" (agriculture, farmers, and rural areas), Tra Vinh province has basically completed the task of building new rural areas. This is a testament to the determination of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of Tra Vinh province in building modern and sustainable rural areas. The material and spiritual lives of rural residents have improved; the landscape and environment have flourished in a bright, green, clean, and beautiful direction; and rural security and order are ensured. The "three rural issues" have taken root in the hearts of the people, creating a solid foundation for comprehensive development.
