From early morning, Mrs. TTKL traveled over 100 km from Lam Dong to bring her 5-year-old granddaughter, TAP, to visit her daughter, NMKH, who is a convict. At the moment of reunion, she hugged her daughter tightly, speechless. The tight embrace and teary eyes reflected the boundless compassion and unconditional love of a mother for her 23-year-old daughter who had made a mistake.
Meanwhile, TAP, her son, had prepared a handmade gift for his mother, with guidance from his teacher, along with the message, "Happy October 20th. I love you so much, Mom." Receiving this priceless gift, H. was overwhelmed with emotion, hugging her son tightly and smiling happily and lovingly.
Upon seeing his two sons, BTH and BGP, inmate BDT (from Buon Ma Thuot ward) ran to them, affectionately embracing them and listening to their cheerful chatter. BDT explained that he was imprisoned for organizing gambling and was nearing the end of his sentence. During his time in prison, he was allowed visits from his family and two sons as per regulations. However, at this inmate's family meeting, he had more time to talk with his wife and children in a more intimate and friendly atmosphere. This served as a source of emotional support, allowing him to focus on rehabilitation and return to rebuild his life sooner.

Meanwhile, Mr. NTH (from Ea H'leo commune) brought his mother and son to visit his wife, TTQN, early in the morning. This was also Mr. H.'s first time attending the Prisoner's Family Conference. During the warm and loving meal, he didn't forget to remind his wife to study and work hard so that she could return home to her family soon.
Colonel Tran Van Dung, Superintendent of Dak Trung Prison, said that in order to promote the role of family members in motivating and encouraging inmates to actively study and work, the prison organizes regular inmate family conferences. "Family affection, care, and encouragement are powerful spiritual remedies that help inmates recognize their mistakes, gain more motivation to strive, and gradually reintegrate into the community," Colonel Tran Van Dung affirmed.
Within the framework of the conference, prison officials announced the results of the rehabilitation and education work and the implementation of policies and regulations for inmates, and discussed with families the rehabilitation and training progress of the inmates. At the same time, relatives understood the feelings of the inmates in order to cooperate and improve the effectiveness of the education work. “Attending the conference and learning about the living and working conditions of the prison, I feel reassured and confident that the educational environment here will soon help my husband realize his mistakes and return to the family,” shared Mrs. NTKh. (Buon Ma Thuot ward), whose husband NLH is serving his sentence at the prison.
Inmate NTP shared: “Attending these inmate family conferences has made me truly appreciate and deeply understand the sacred meaning of the word 'family.' This is a bridge that connects us, helping us to cast aside negative and misguided thoughts, and to focus on work, study, self-improvement, and training so that when we reintegrate into the community, we will be useful citizens to society.”
It can be said that the Conference for Families of Prisoners is not just a simple meeting, but a flame of humanity that is lit, guiding those who have made mistakes, so that they believe that after months of good rehabilitation, there is always a home waiting for them, open arms, and a chance to start over.
