It's tough in the year of the snake!

Ahead of the transition from the old year to the new year of the Snake 2025, the AFC made a new move mentioning Vietnamese football. On its official social media page, the Asian football governing body posted a meaningful status update: "Vietnamese Football 2025 - Truly 'Tough' in the Year of the Snake," accompanied by images of the national teams (men's and women's) and outstanding clubs in the V-League.

Furthermore, the AFC even presented Vietnamese football with a rhyme: "Solid gameplay - Strong and resilient - Fresh appearance - Plenty of luck."

It can be said that Vietnamese football has just experienced a successful 2024, culminating in winning the Southeast Asian Football Championship (AFF Cup 2024). At the end of the lunar year 2024, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team opened up a promising future, making many football fans eagerly anticipate the Vietnamese national team's performances in 2025.

In the new year of the Snake (2015), Vietnamese football will participate in many important tournaments. Among them, the Vietnamese national team will compete in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Coach Kim Sang-sik is predicted to face more challenges in the early stages of the continent's top tournament, due to a depleted squad. Key striker Nguyen Xuan Son suffered a serious injury at the 2024 AFF Cup and will certainly not be fit to contribute to the Vietnamese national team at the 2027 Asian Cup, at least not during the first leg of the group stage.

One highly anticipated sporting event that Vietnamese football will participate in is the 2025 Southeast Asian Games. The Vietnam U22 team and the Vietnamese women's national team will compete at the 33rd SEA Games, held in Thailand. The Vietnamese women's futsal team will compete in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, a tournament that will help them realize their dream of participating in the World Cup. The Vietnam U17 team will also compete in the 2025 Asian U17 Championship.
